The distribution of random vs. non-random interaction is interesting, though, no?

In ILB, for example, the main form of direct interaction was random (or at least, it was supposed to appear random Wink ) -- live calls to payphones. Melissa wasn't supposed to know who she was getting, it wasn't supposed to be based on anything we'd done: it was just random live calls. You were as likely to get one if you had never said anything on the forums, in chat, or emailed a character as you were if you had already betrayed the Sleeping Princess.

There was some of what I'll call "merit-based" interaction as well (in that you had to do something to get noticed in order to get it): the Sleeping Princess would pick her favorite question from those emailed to her to answer on the site, but the merit-based interaction was clearly seemed secondary to the random interaction. For one thing, it wasn't as direct.

This time, though -- and I recognize we're still early in the game and have no clue what's coming -- the "merit-based" interaction (based on getting noticed by winning at poker, having a lot of people add you to their buddy list, or finding a card) seems to have been more direct than the "random" interaction (the phone calls).

Which makes me wonder if we're in for some very interesting random live calls. Smile

Great work sandman! Thanks! Maybe if I learn how to play, someday i too can make it to the top players. Or maybe just lose all my chips. Wink

Here is something we need to ask TheDealer:

In the last game, the dealer said
Quote:
thedealer: The colt I got a long time ago, back in my army days.
thedealer: Just after it killed a man.
ScarpeGrosse: Anyone we should know?
thedealer: The shooter, or the dead man? Both men worth knowing, in their different ways.

Through conversaion, it was determined that the shooter was Maurice Pikar, but no one ever followed up on the dead man. In the next game, we should definitely ask who the dead man is.

SPEC: It's the German prisoner from "Without Rancor."

But a hanging is how I met an old old friend
[15:02] <Ehsan> thedealer: His POWs kept getting shot trying to escape.
[15:03] <Ehsan> thedealer: After the hanging, they made me his babysitter.

I think the POW's getting shot refers to Without Rancor, but i seem to remember lucky picking it up in WWII, although i may be wrong there
