Banker et. al

Hi. This is my first post (and first ARG), but I've read the forums, so I hope I don't post anything out of line.

Anyway, in the Tips For The Living, we are told that around the table there are always eight players: the banker, the sheriff, the killer, the kid, the gambler, the preacher, the half-breed, and the drunk.

In the Trailhead, Dr_Pangloss suggested that each of these correspond to a player. His list follows:

The Banker =
The Sheriff =
The Killer = (the guy in Lucy's apt?)
The Kid = Trey Muncie (omarhakim) ?
The Gambler = Lucy Brown?
The Preacher = Clay Sizemore
The Half-breed = Anthony or Matt Viet (wtf616) ?
The Drunk = William Shiner

What does everyone think of this? I was thinking that maybe the kid is Lucy. Any comments?

Except that TheDealer is calling US "Kid" all the time.

Is that an affectation, or a kl00?

It's possible. There's also the question of whether or not Lucy should count as a player.

TheDealer tells us that when you look around the table, you always see the same players. Since we're helping Lucy, is she the one looking around the table, and these are the eight playing with her at this time?

Weak, I know, but the semantics are bothering me just a bit.

Well, considering TheDealer said he's dealt Lucy the "Dead Man's Hand" ("I can't rest thinking maybe I dealt her the dead man's hand."), I'd say she's definitely playing, though from the sounds of it, she's "out" for this round.

Just noticed that Matt Viet calls himself the "new sheriff in town" in the chat log. So he's probably our sheriff.

Are we sure Mat Viet is fish00k?

Fish00k is AFTER Matt Viet. He's a seperate person. Since Matt was the one who killed the cell phones, this "fish00k" is saying he's going to get him.

I am under the impression that if the list is correct and each has their own "title" for an oncoming game, then each of the people involved will be alive.

Shiner is still alive. Richard was just making a joke about calling the police about a "smell". Look at the dates.

Good thought, tho.

Excellent - another question, though. Do you think fish00k is "the sheriff" - ie someone who should be looked out for? I think so, but then again, this is my first...

[SPEC] Card Profiles and the Player Types

I was browsing the card profiles, looking at/for new links, when I noticed something unusual. 4 of the "turned" cards have unique headers on their profiles. These four are "Lucky" Brown (thedealer), Lucy Brown (andadaughter), Clay Sizemore (preacher) and Spider (spider). In light of the player types told to us:
Quote:
You'll look around the table, and you'll see the same eight players: The Banker and the Sheriff, the Killer and the Kid. The Gambler, the Preacher, the Half-breed and the Drunk.

I suspect that Lucy, Clay and Spider are all one of the Players. Gambler, Preacher and Kid or Killer, respectively?

EDIT: In chat, MapMaker suggested that Spider may be the Half-Breed, since we think she's half English, half German.

Hmm. This is sort of trouty, since we've been discussing the player types here, but since the Player Type discussion was sort of getting lost in more general discussion of characters, and we probably should have a place to discuss it, I'm going to leave this unlocked. Smile (Unless people think it's better to keep the discussion more consolidated...weigh in?)

(Merged with Player Type discussion from Character Thread. --Phaedra)

The same, however, can't be said for William Shiner, who we know is The Drunk thanks to the Trail for Week 1 on The Muck section of the site.

Perhaps the characters with the special headers on their cards are meant for some special purpose. We know Lucy, Lucky and Clay are all right in the middle of the mystery surrounding the gun--Lucky used to own it, Lucy currently owns it, and Clay is currently in possession of it.

Who knows what role Spider will have to play?

My vote is to keep the topic open. Might promote some more specific discussion. Smile

Phaedra, thanks for keeping it open. I knew that there was another thread, but like you said, the Player Types were getting lost.

As for Shiner being The Drunk... I forgot about that.

Athough Simon Bassi (hashochet) is the heavy, Maurice Pikar is the only person we've been reminded actually killed anyone.

I'm thinking Matt Viet/wtf616 is the Kid, because it's been emphasized that he's just 15 years old.

Also, I do think Killer = Cigarette. On "The Muck," Lucky says that "there's a killer on the loose," clearly referring to our freaky serial killer friend.
