you have to be dead to be in the poker room? I never thought of that.

Yep. All the players appear to be dead. Which is why, for example, we haven't gotten to play with Lucy.

That would explain why it set my "death date" to when i first started playing so that is def confirmed. We are all dead and are characters dont know they died. Is this the world to come? Poker?

Ah, so these poker games are in Purgatory!

BTW, I was brought up that we (of the Jewish faith) do not believe in Heaven & Hell. We should do what is right in this life (not for any reward or punishment after we are dead - ashes to ashes & dust to dust really means that).

And doing good deeds without any expectation of reward is a Mitzvah.

And not all christian faiths follow the teaching of Purgatory.

Hrm, anyone not Reform might disagree with you on the Heaven & Hell thing -- resurrection of the dead is one of Rambam's 13 principles of faith, it's mentioned in the Shemoneh Esrei, and the entire body of Kabbalah (not to mention Jewish folklore and the Talmud) speculates pretty heavily on what the afterlife is like.

I'm reluctant to make any assumptions, at this point, as to where Simon and Maurice fit in on the spectrum of observance, but even if they're putting on tefillin at the wrong time, I'd say they seem more traditional than Reform.

In other words, I think we can safely rule out them having a Hanukkah Bush. Wink

Seriously, I'm not sure that we can assume that they don't believe in an afterlife.

EDIT: And I'll say it again now that there are more people -- L'shanah tovah, everyone.

Ditto here, who knew this post would bring all the jews out.

I am back from services and spoke to my rabbi about this.

Besides saying that it is a waste of time he mentioned there is a midrash about a spider the protected the soon to be king David when Shauel was out looking to kill him.

Anyway, I was expecting the shochet to die and instead it now seems like it will be Maurice, hmmm wonder why he was not in shul on the holiest day of the year. Someone should check that out.

Interesting that one of the updates takes place on Shabbos. hmm if Maurice is that religious, will he play poker on Saturday. Or will he just go straight to Olam Habah since as was said there really is no purgatory and yet just heard about purgatory in reform. Oh well... anyway im well... um conservadox I think they could call it.
