Too much reading! Shocked This is an ARG that is all about reading. When I first started I read through all of the posts at Lazylaces, then here at Unfiction, uphill, both ways, through the snow, with no shoes on, with Shylilembrace tied to my back.

<muttering>Too much reading! Bah whippersnappers!</muttering>

Edit: Just interjecting some humor.
On another note: Shy please don't kill me.

I dont mind the reading either it's just the annoying length coupled with annoying forum layout (ie. signatures, pages, word). They get in the way!

*Sigh* I'll go back and read it... Crying or Very sad

I guessing that this will have little, if any, bearing on what we are doing...but...it does deal with paganism and astrology. I found it to be quite interesting. I came across whilst poking through pagan sites.

"But the real significance for the number 13 may lie farther back still. Unbeknownst to many, even modern astrology enthusiasts, is that there was, and still is a 13th sign of the zodiac known as Ophiuchus Serpentarius, the Serpent Holder. This constellation lies between Sagittarius and Libra, somewhat over Scorpio, and infact the sun spends more time in Ophiuchus (16 days) then it does Scorpio. (9 days) In 16-17th century this constellation was called Alpheichius, or variations thereof. Known as the "God of Invocation" in Greek, this starry asterism was named after a legendary healer who was said to have the ability to raise the very dead. Ophiuchus holds 2 serpents in his hands, the same serpents which would later be used as the medical symbol in the US. A statement made by Plato seems to nail the matter right on the head, as he calls this 13th sign "the god of the underworld", and insisted even in his time that it not be included in the cycle of the zodiac. "The law will say that there are 12 feats dedicated to the 12 gods...Pluto is to have his feast in the 12th month and not be excluded as a denizen of the underworld, for warlike men should realize that he is the best friend of man". Unfortunately, Christians too attempted to suppress this 13th sign during the medieval ages, changing it into the figure of St Paul holding a viper, before dropping it altogether.

From there, it was only a short while until the origin of the superstitious dread faded from popular memory. Once the starry symbol of death and transformation, 13 still lingers in modern day culture as a forgotten remnant of a time gone by."

I had never read of/heard of that before.

No matter what else comes of the day....it will not have been a waste....I learned something new! Wink

Carry on....

Just a flashback: Remember Islington telling me "That's Triscal as in three pointed celts Islington as in NoMan is an Islington
If you can guess my middle name maybe I'll send you a present"

So, yes it means many things and has many symbols. Check here http://www.greatdreams.com/three/three.htm

or here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triskelion

The last one is more poignant.

I still don't get the whole no man is an Islington thing. Isn't is "No man is an island?"

Edit: And on a related note (since I'm interjecting humor anyway), I'll never forget sitting in the theatre watching "The Incredibles" and being the only one laughing when the plane's computer said "Now approaching Nomanizan." I had the whole theatre looking at me, and my wife looking like, "I have no idea who this idiot is in the seat next to me." Nomanizan Island Very Happy Still cracks me up.

Edit #2: Didn't mean to offend you Shy, you're my hero. And I already thanked you for the new pages. I was only going to post in them if a scribe page changed, and email or im conversation took place, or a book was discovered. This is still the speculation thread.

Right but I still don't get how "Triskelion" being "The Isle of Man" means Islington. I see that that is how you came about Triscal as his first name, is as follows:

Islington -> "The Isle of Man" -> "Triskelion" -> Triscal

So my problem is, I don't understand where the first came connection from.

Islington -> "The Isle of Man".

Confession time.

I meant to divulge this on Sunday....but, as previously mentioned, unexpected drama arose and I have not been around. Sad

Without further ado....here is a previous post of mine:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Posted: Thu Sep 22, 2005 6:41 pm

I received a reply to my message to Islington....the reply is from Toby----

Dear _____(he used my real name...would kinda ruin my Incog Neato ID to share it further!!),
Thanks for your eloquent reply. I've been given Islington's Inbox to try and deal with, there are thousands of helpful people out there that I am trying to reply to on his behalf.
Your literary tastes are good, and your particular choices, I am
sure, will shine a helpful light on this tricky conundrum. The 'game' will go beyond sharing reading lists, it is Important to Islington's success that which ever books are on his mystic list be read and sent on all over the world. When he explained it to me, he talked about this vortex principle - I will soon upload the logs of our conversation so it is more clear. Basicly, something about the movements of the books, passing through various academic and personal networks, being constantly re-read by co-operative people then sent on, this, he feels, will go some way to facilitating the End Results he so desperately requires.
So if you want to share any books you think would be beneficial in subject or style to the triskabiblios library, please find someone else who is actively playing, befriend them, and send them a copy. For the price of a charity shop book and a stamp you will be helping to decypher one of the most profound riddles of the TwentieFirst Century and help us link up with the Morrisian Future of Nowhere.
Anyway, thanks for being so diligent. I will keep in touch as and when I can. Please explain to the others what I've told you, since I'm quite tired and will go get some sleep.

Toby
triskabiblios scribe

PS Your ID rules. hehehe Incog Neato! *yay*

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did as he requested.

I sent the copy of Siddhartha to Mountain Girl.

I do think that everyone should read the letter carefully though....it is quite evident that Islington did not mean for me to be the only one share a book. Wink

Carry on....

Shocked Confused Sad Laughing Wink

Which basically means

"WHAT!"
"So that means we're not getting sent books by Islington."
"Awe I was looking forward to that."
"That's still pretty funny though."
"Sneaky, very sneaky."

The last one is more poignant.

MG, I think that the treskelion holds some importance, that's sorta what I was trying to get at yesterday when I posted about the triskele. Like I said before, I think the symbol on the folded page oppisite "FOUND 2005" is a triskele/treskelion.

P.S. I think Shylilembrace has the right idea soming up with sub-threads. This one is getting kinda cluttered.
