So, those of you who were in the chat, remember how I kept joking that I'd rather cancel my class to be there through the end of Receda's Revenge? And remember how virtuous I was to leave for work anyway?

Well, on my way to work, a car slammed into me from behind. Though I'm basically fine, I ended up spending that hour on the side of the road with the cops instead of in the classroom with my students.

Moral of the story: Always choose to skip work when the option is presented

Honestly, as soon as I realized I hadn't broken anything, etc., I thought, And I could have stayed at home to play PPC... Grrr...

Leave it to me to turn anything into a reason to goof off more often.

Strange co-inkydink Mokey Fraggle, I was also in a little accident yesterday: a low speed 3-car pile-up...with my car in the middle!!! Though it wasn't my fault, the woman behind me hit my car, causing mine to hit the one in front!!! No damage thankfully, so no hyper-inflated insurance premiums.....but at least it happened a few hours before text rpg...

Bottom line is, claim you got whiplash or a knee injury to your boss at work and bunk off for PXC more often!!!!

Hehe! Exactly. I like the way you people think. Laughing Actually, my neck is so stiff that they told me I should go to the doctor. /sigh Blah. And my car's not badly damaged, but because it's old they might call it totalled. How lovely. Razz Strange about the coincidence! My accident was a three-car pile-up, too! I was at the front end of it all. You sure you aren't in Orlando, Neuromancer? Laughing

Oh, and Pineapple, I couldn't get your map and guide to pull up! Probably a problem at my end. Brain malfunctioning or something. Wink any suggestions?

Bumping this thread to refresh recollections (or for some like me, learn for the first time what the first game was like). Here are the directions for the first game as well:

Welcome to Receda's Revenge! This is Eclipse Disc's newest text adventure game, incorporating consensual multiplayer participation and the latest experimental natural language processing system. If you are unfamiliar with these features, read on.

Like normal text adventure games, Receda's Revenge only allows a single person to 'drive' the game at any one time, in #receda-game. Unlike them, however, other players can watch and offer advice to the 'driver' until their turn comes around to play. Advice can be offered in a separate area, #receda-chat.

If you would like to take the controls of the game, you will need to join the player queue. To do this, send a private message to the user RecedaBot with the word "queue". To send this message, use the command:

/msg RecedaBot queue

and you will be added automatically. You may only be in the queue once at a time.

Our experimental natural language processing system gives players more freedom within the game world, by interpreting the meaning of commands. The usual commands which work in all text adventures are available, such as:

n
s
e
w
inventory
get (object)
hit (person)

You can also ask questions to non-player characters such as bartenders, and get an intelligent reply. Due to the high processing load this places on our system, you may expect delays in responses, although we aim to keep these down to a minimum.

Finally, if you are stuck in the game, please just type hint, and the game will attempt to give you relevant and useful advice.

Enjoy RECEDA'S REVENGE!
