ok.. maybe sky writing, but perhaps a banner plane? it's cheaper and more eco-friendly Wink (hint, hint PMs Very Happy)

[UPDATE] [EVENT] Manchester, UK - Oct. 9th

Well,

I really like Cassandra's idea of the CIS tower... it's a landmark, it covers the 'keyword' approach, and it's certainly worth a try. At the same time, we're clearly told by the /sortails.html page to "Buy the next chapter at the secret location locked away in this thrilling adventure...", which would be Manchester Sky Centre UK. We know we didn't miss any scrolls (remember, they made us trip over one on our front doorstep that luckily didn't kill us!), so:

Sky Centre Manchester
26 Moulton St.
Manchester M8 8FQ, United Kingdom
0161 834 0010

Thanks,

Loric

Edited to make this the new event thread. --Cassandra.

Banner Plane

This sounds much more sensible too for Manchester - I doubt you'd be able to read skywriting in Manchester with the weather as it is today.

Will try to get up there myself -probably Sainsburys car park near Castlefields - should give a fairly clear view of the skies over Manchester whilst not being too distant.

Any other ideas for locations?

Stew

Hoping for a hot-air balloon myself. Easier to see for an hour. Fun to ride in too Wink

ooh. I should be able to come on sunday, although i'm inclined towards the "sky, manchester town centre" angle - not convinced about the "sky centre" ? - i've been to the CIS tower for a conference, the Co-op has their offices there, but theres a couple of large conference rooms.

If theres going to be a few of us shall we be meeting up, and card swapping? Smile (*cough*beerdrinking*cough*)

Is anyone from London/SE driving up?

The only feasable thing for me to do would be to take a coach as taking trains would mean arriving in London at four in the morning and the taxi/tube situation would be troublesome however taking coaches is something I avoid at all costs.

I'm up for meeting up some of that card swapping stuff (preferably contained within a respectable beer serving establishment), if anyone can suggest somewhere - I don't really know Manchester that well!

The keywords that people are saying are relevant to a certain place are all well and good but remember we was told the keywords were to put together a website address.

i think this definitely has something to do with the CIS solar panels, it cantbe a coincidence that we get star and power as key words, and then we get a flashing picture of a solar panel in the trailer and then we are told about manchester which just happens to have the largest solar panel in the UK... Too many huge coincidences methinks Smile

the project isnt due for completion for a couple of months, so im thinking the tower might be hosting banner advertising on the sides which aren't yet clad and this might be where to look, the cis tower is the tallest in the manchester skyline, or was, and so would i suppose be in the sky in the centre of manchester. Or maybe someone will be waiting outside witha little stall selling chapters of lord flanigroths tale...

FYI sortails is an anagram of 'its solar' Smile

It probably won't amount to anything, but the IRC server is still up so someone might want to think of being logged in over there during our window of time on Sunday--just in case.

I won't be able to make it to Manchester, so I'll keep an eye on the IRC instead.

How would we go about getting info from the site team to these boards quickly? Preferably real-time but that's obviously not gonna happen.....or can it?? I have access to a PBX server, and could probably sort out a PSTN ( Public Switched Telephone Network ) connection. If somebody from the site team calls that landline number then I can setup a conference call and the support team here can listen in and keep these boards up-to-date. Alternatively if one of you has a wireless laptop or PDA, you can sign in on site ( I'm sure there's plenty of unsecured wireless connections in Manchester, there's loads of them in London and some even allow router access!!!! ) and post updates as and when they happen.

Thoughts or ideas??

I won't be there, but if anyone has a Treo (or other Palm PDA that can access the internet), I would highly recommend something like upIRC to communicate while out and about.

woo!
i tried to get to that sky centre on moulton st today but the bus going that way is only once an hour and i'd just missed one. either way, this all sounds a lot more promising :) i can be at the CIS building on sunday, but i'm wondering whether it'd be better to meet somewhere fairly open (for good sky views, i'm thinking piccadilly gardens for ease of getting to, or cathedral gardens for nearness to CIS) first and then head off to the CIS if nothing transpires? my laptop is currently getting fixed but i can do email on my phone (no irc unfortunately) or i dont mind giving my number to someone in the IRC if they PM me beforehand. i will also take my camera which does video too.

rach =)
