Actually, I'd like to go back to the possibility of some sort of time/space disruption at Viendenbourg. The theory that Allain & the old man are just related wouldn't explain the same gait etc. The only real possibility is that it is the same person. However, are we talking about some sort of disguise or some sort of temporal instability that keeps pulling Allain forward and back through time from his older to younger self? It has been noticed that Allain is perhaps loosing his marbles and I'm guessing that this sort of temporal twisting would do that to a guy!! It's also possible that the old sentinal article about injured hikers could be related too. Not perhaps meaning that the old report related directly to this incident perhaps but just that Scarlet's party were not the first hikers to recently visit the area about Viendenbourg. (Can we dig up a copy of the old article?)

However, two things are bugging me. If Viendenbourg is a dangerous area and someone is trying to keep people away from it then why leave the map blank? In my mind this is just asking for someone to go 'Oh look, a blank bit of map. I wonder what's there?' and promptly go look.

The second worry is that if Scarlet has been attacked or effected in some way and is in a 'conventional' hospital the why has there been no information in the news? As Sente's daughter Scarlet would be fairly high profile so her injuries should be newsworthy. More likely she is in a secure miliatry hospital and is being kept sedated or brain wiped to stop her relaying too much information about Viendenbourg to the outside world??

It's so hard to know the right thing to do... My maternal instinct tells me we should tell Sente because I'd feel really bad if we didn't try and prevent Scarlett further harm. On the other hand, I don't know if I trust Sente, but he *is* her father and he might be able to help her. So, do we do what seems right, or do we selfishly keep quiet because we don't want him to ruin the game for us? Isn't there a way to tell him she may be in trouble without telling him too much else? I'll leave it up to the experts.

Yes, the thing that really makes me think this might be a sketchy hospital is that Violet doesn't appear to know, and there has been no mention of Scarlett's accident in the paper. We'd surely see something.

Still. I think her specific request for us to keep quiet should be respected at least until we know a little bit more. She must have had a reason for asking us to not blab. Let's give her one more update ... or a few days with no update ... before we run off to tell others?

People have said that since Scarlett hasn't had her key taken away she can't be being held against her will - but what if her captors know that the Cube hunters are following her blog, and made her post a message saying that she was OK for the moment and not to tell anyone?

On the other hand though, if that was the case it would make more sense for them to make her post something just saying that they hadn't found anything and were on the way home, etc.... but I'm rambling now, so I'll shut up.

And this is probably obvious, but I don't think it's very likely that Allain attacked Scarlett - she says "I don't think I believe him", suggesting that although she's suspicious of him, he hasn't done anything that would swing things one way or the other.

Someone mentioned that we haven't heard anything about Scarlett in the Sentinel. What if instead of contacting Sente, Violet or Kurt, we tip off the Sentinel instead? Just tell them something fairly vague about Scarlett being in a hospital somewhere in the Tanraga mountains and how they might want to follow up?

That way we have someone who might follow up with her, we're not "risking" our current contacts, and since it's the press they might even uncover something interesting

Of course we should wait a little longer for Scarlett to post again before we say anything to anyone.

First post on this ARG. Hi folks!
Anyway. I reckon we should contact someone regarding what has happened to Scarlet, but i dont know who would be best. Im not quite trusting of Sente. Telling her sister Violet could lead to some awkward complications we don't want. We could tell the newspaper, but we aren't even sure about what has happened. I just don't want to leave it a little too late, and then read in the Sentinel "Sente's daughter in coma". Because that never bodes well!
Maybe we should try and get more information from Scarlet herself?

Today's post on Quirky Acuity clearly mentions nothing about Scarlet. I know that if my sister had had that kind of experience and ended up in hospital I'd mention it. So Violet doesn't know, which means the hospital haven't notified the family (Sente and Violet have their arguments, but not that bad and the hospital must know who she is because she has her key and has been conscious).

IMO, the hospital has proved itself suspect and we should act. Trouble is, who should we tell? My vote would go to the Sentinel for anonymity, although I'm sure Violet would blame us eventually and then berate us for not telling her. Maybe we should (dare I say it) trust Sente, she is his daughter after all (although what he was thinking, letting her get involved in all of this, I don't know).

EDIT: Nor would Sente be delivering press conferences if he knew.

Well, Scarlett's grown, and it's not like she looked for our input on the matter...

Scarlett: "Oh look, there's this little pencilled note on a file folder in a dead man's desk about equipment and towns that are being covered up and for all intents and purposes seem not to exist! I think I'll go check it out personally, and send you all a newsletter about what I find! Ta!"



But perhaps we should notify family, as it appears that the hospital isn't too inclined to do so. (Unless, of course, Scarlett gave 'em a fake name to keep her family out...though with the whole key thing, not too sure how easy it would be for her to lie about her identity.)

EDIT: Emailed Scarlett, asking if she's OK, if anyone in her family knows about her situation yet, and whether or not she wants us to relay any messages to anyone. She may still be trying to lay low, and might be pretty upset if we go blabbing to folks about what happened--even to her family.
