Did I make a mistake, or is the website not accepting the answer properly? I typed it in exactly (my answer was the same as the spoiler above), but it wasn't accepted. I even made sure that the punctuation and case matched up... ??
I just copied and pasted Enigmaster's answer rather than typing it all out myself and it worked fine. Make sure you get the exclamation mark at the end.

Having said that, I'm currently going through all my cards entering the solutions and so far Poison Pill (#075) and Arrange My Lace Bits (#105) have rejected my answers even though they're correct and other people have apparently managed to enter them and get the points. There may be a few kinks in the system that are still being ironed out Confused

You have to make sure you put a comma in after golf. Even though there's not one in the text - a bit unfair if you ask me!

Nope, it's doing that to me too Sad

Any ideas anyone? Have used up all 3 chances today trying with punctuation, without punctuation
etc but still saying it's wrong.

No fair Evil or Very Mad

:edit: opps, didnt see the last page of comments.....will try with the comma tomorrow

I just had the following accepted without that extra comma:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Was in the bar after golf tried to get smirnoff from the barmaid but got a pint of carling instead. Got a kiss off anna, but now she's gone home!

Here's a website that's really useful if you don't have a phone with predictive text:

http://www.textonym.com/

It lets you input words and gives you a list of all the words that fit with those keys. Very nifty and useful for those of us with less than current tech.

I wrote my own "textonym" lister in perl:

Code:
# read dictionary
my %words;
open FH, '</usr/share/dict/words' || die $!;
while (<FH>) {
  chomp;
  my $key = txtify($_);
  $words{$key} = [] unless exists $words{$key};
  push @{$words{$key}}, $_;
}
close FH;

# go through words to translate
for my $word (@ARGV) {
  my $key = txtify($word);
  my @results = exists $words{$key} ? @{$words{$key}} : ();
  print "$word: ".join(' ', sort @results)."\n";
}

# translates text to numbers
sub txtify {
  my $x = lc $_[0];
  $x =~ tr/'!,a-z/11122233344455566677778889999/;
  return $x;
}

The results I got (still need to use human intuition, and several words aren't in the dictionary)

Your dictionary obviously doesn't have a comprehensive list of wines and spirits, then Smile

Can you add to it?

Yeah, they did, but sony erricson? Smile I suppose that with all the "let's all get stuff like on earth" fad going on, they might have modelled new keys on earth mobiles (sony and all), and even have "smirnoff" vodka and "carling" beer (maybe not even beer - it'd be a bit of a fuckup if you wanted vodka and you got a shitty lager... maybe they're not anything like their earth counterparts?)

It's a puzzle card. No reason to think that Von modelled it after a real event.
