Who says it was ever melting down? I don't think that's the case. Islington's just got a bigger plan than we can see.

Or maybe he's completely off his rocker. Either way, it worked out alright, didn't it? Very Happy

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step"

Don't give up, Moongazer. This is going to move at different speeds as we go through it. And the end of last week, things were moving thick and fast, and today it's a bit slower. Savour the moment, the connections and let it settle out in your mind. Have a beer and put your feet up - maybe a synapse will close and you will make a connection that has yet to occur to the rest of us...

Those who are truly interested in the 13books will stay the course and the others are only hangers-on in any case. I agree that it _is_ disappointing to see some of the Scribes lose interest (Graeme, Ducky, 6-sided, Raeden, where are you now?), but they have been replaced before (OnionRing, Dixon and Cenyon have bitten the dust already). And don't mistake a small number of posters for a small number of readers. I suspect there are a multiple of lurkers for every poster. A quick Google search for Triskabiblios yields 23,400 hits, so the interest hasn't diminished yet.

Personally, I'm enjoying digging up stuff that I didn't know before (Blake, Paine, art, base36 coding) and amazing myself with the unexpected, seemingly accidental connections which exist between things in the mundane real world. Even though it's taken us nowhere, I'm pleased that I dug up the info on the 2-yearly Tom Paine lecture which is occurring 3 days after the full moon and I was happy to put the map together too. Hopefully I can contribute more as we continue together. For now, I'm just happy to watch the moon rise over the Rockies and marvel at it all.

Peace, love and understanding

I've been following along through LazyLaces and have read everything here, and just thought I'd join in Law5s back-patting. The amount of work and focus has been astounding. Well done!

Can I point out one thing--has anyone wondered whether the fact that Sunday is in Japanese means that 6:30PM Sunday is Japanese time? That would make it 10:30AM in London, I think. Just an idle conjecture--why else would Islington use Japanese to give us the day? There's 50 million people who can read it instantly, so there's no hidden mystery...

Thinking ahead, I have a suggestion for Sunday: I think it would be ideal to have a 2-person team go to the Paine monument in Islington, assuming that that's what we're suggesting. One to get the key and one to record the moment the key is found or to get a pic of Islington/Toby maybe. Then we can all see what happens at the Place, at the Time. A live webcam would be better, but is probably impossible.

In fact, it might be worthwhile to have "our guys" (whoever they be) stake out the monument for a while before the designated hour. For a description of a similar 'surveillance operation', check out http://easynetworknyc.com/powerbook/pdfhtml.php (the hilarious Operation P-P-P-Powerbook). This is only a suggestion and it's easy for me to come up with up when I'm 5,000 miles away in Canada, but if I lived near Islington I'd be there...

Oh, bugger. Shocked Now we're not sure what time the 'meet' is at. Hopefully we get another pointer from Iz or Orkid before Sunday so whoever goes isn't on a wild goose chase. Rolling Eyes

Sigh. Why is nothing ever simple? Confused

Why would we want to catch him? It would tear down the curtain and end this wonderful game.

Sorry, perhaps I should clarify - I don't want to catch Islington (what would we do with him anyway?) but I do want to understand what's happening here. As Teela has suggested, Islington will be fully aware of our arrangements as long as we are discussing them on the open forum, so he should be one step ahead of us at all times. Maybe he'll use an intermediary like Yann delivering the key to the Cancer Research Shop, who knows? Observing is not catching, wanting to see is not wanting to interfere. But active observation should make the whole thing more interesting for all concerned.

I'm new to the world of ARGs so maybe an older hand can tell me - is it OK to take a photo of a 'real world meeting' as it happens (if it happens...), just for those players who can't be there in person?

If we are getting a little downtime over the next few days, I thought it might be a good time to congratulate our collective selves for doing so well up to this point. As a group, we've proven ourselves quick to respond to changes, adept at researching (how _did_ you get that Japanese link, Shylil?) and able to discuss the various leads rationally and discard dead-ends. We've yet to have even a single flame war in this thread and I think we've managed to keep the number of redundant posts to a minimum, while maintaining some space for the chit-chat. I think a newcomer could read our posts to date fairly quickly and see where we have taken this and why. I think after events of the last couple of days, we can rest assured that Islington is watching!

So well done everyone, enjoy a few days' potential rest and get ready for Sunday and the weeks and months (years?) ahead.

Heh..thanks, even though I don't feel like I've done anything except waiste my time and everyone elses. Also, months? Shocked you people (I know there's two or three of ya) will have to get over the idea that I'm here to cause trouble if we're all gonna work together for that long. Yeah,I know, you guys have perfectly good reasons to not trust me, but being overly cautious will only hurt you in the end..

Hey gang....

I am back in town after a VERY long and trying 'weekend'. Sad

I see that much hypothesizing has occurred in my absence. I have scanned through pages 10-current on this thread....and must admit that I am somewhat confused (don't worry...I am a frequent traveler to the state of confusion!).

Am I correct in thinking that there is no next step until Sunday?

Or is this just one of the theories being bounced about?

Whatever the case....I am back. Game on! Wink

As always....things continue to get

Curiouser and curiouser.....

It is nice to take a breather from all the postulations. I'd also like to offer thanks (and encouragement) to all who've stayed in it thus far.
Good work, everyone!
I'm getting a picture of the book "blinking" into being at the appointed place and time.
I posted in another thread how it'd be cool to be watching it unfold on a webcam if one is available. Something I'll definitely stay up to see! I've looked around and haven't found any that cover the area very well. Anyone know a good cam or site to look them up.
London is probably the most "cam'ed" city in the world and I can't help but wonder if there aren't cams covering this area.

And if anyone's looking for something to do during our "hiatus", nobody's finished my Yellow Brick Road puzzle trail, yet.
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12505
I'd appreciate any feedback on my efforts for this trail so I'll know whether I should ever try anything like it, again.
Thanks

::RARE LATE NIGHT POST!::

I was thinking how much fun it would be to be one of the people "staking out" the monument.

Does anyone else keep picturing a "Back to the Future 2" Ending moment going on.

*Man walks up to the monument, looks around, sees our two watchers and walks to them*

Excuse me but would you happen to be Graeme, and Jackalope (Just for fun:))? This package is for you. We had a pool at the office wether or not you were actually going to show. See this package has been in our possession for the last 30 years. Anyway have a good day.
