Unless Clayfoot is being super-dry with his wit and hyoomah, I think that would probably make Vic pretty unhappy.

Lucky mentioned Vic talking about the gnome in "Amelie". Which is one of my favorite movies.
Those of you who have see the Travelocity commercials will be familer with the consept.
Amelie's father always wanted to travel, but they never did because they thought Amelie had a heart condition.
Amelie's father installs an ugly garden gnome on a shrine he has made for her mother. A garden gnome he liked but the mother hated that had been given to them as a wedding present I think.
During the course of the movie, the Gnome is stolen, and her father starts getting letters from around the world with pictures of the Gnome at famous places.
At the end of the movie, we discover that Amelie gave the gnome to a friend of hers, a stewerdess, to take around the world and send her father pictures.
Without her father ever knowing what really happened, she installs the gnome back in the garden and he walks out to find it sitting there in it's place on the little shrine.
As a result, Amelie's father goes off at the end of the movie on his own world tour.
I agree with Krysten, take the hat outside. But I also think we need to give its travels an international flair. Perhaps we should be slightly less consirned about getting the hat back to the states for the Tombstone hold'em games and more conserned about getting it to people in other countries like Chippy.

There have been 2 specific references now: Brazil (forget the movie referenced) and now the one about
Quote:
Kept going on about a gnome in some French movie...Emily or something. That boy loves his movies.
I'd bet dimes to dollars that we're supposed to watch these movies and send the hat to sites that are featured in the movies that are being fed to us.[/quote]

See above.
I'd also like to suggest that, if the hat is still in Vegas, this might be a good oppertunity to take it out to the various hotels that look like other places.

I'm saying, though, that I believe the references are more specific than merely sending the hat overseas. You posted as I was typing my post and I wasn't 100% sure of the validity of the Amelie solution until I read your post after hitting "submit", so at the time I quoted the original reference from Lucky.

I think it's just a lark, not a puzzle.
I don't see that there's any particular place the hat must go, just get it out there on the road.

Here's the thing, though.. I *was* outside a Casino! The Flamingo, to be exact. I guess we should have taken a pic in front of the Bellagio during the fountain show or something... but we didn't think of that. I also tried appealing to any ParrotHead PMs (but I guess there aren't any :-/)
However, Vic (in chat today) seemed excited that the hat was going to DC, so perhaps "out of the country" isn't completely necessary (although it definitely *should* make the rounds there). Kona and I should have found a brighter place to take the pic, but didn't think there would be *that* kind of stipulation on the task.

I really think the hat is supposed to go where the movies lead us.

I think it's overthinking it. He just wanted to see it out of the city it was found in...to see it travel around.
I just had a great idea. Vic's favorite director was Errol Morris. If we could get the hat to a place from a Morris movie, vic would love it.
If I remember (and I'm not sure this is right...it's been a while since I saw the movie), there was a key location in the movie A Thin Blue Line - a Burger King drive-thru in Terre Haute, IN. Also, a drive-in theatre and a specific stretch of road. Seems like a really good place to stop by if anyone can make it there. The roadside spot was where a murder happened...it'd fit with the game, and I'm positive that Vic would totally freak!
If anyone could get it there (don't think I could, it's at the opposite end of the state), that'd be teh awesome.

The comments by the Dealer last night, seemed to be more of the "take it some place and take a pic - but please son't have 20 people take a pic at the same spot. Vic's hat tour

Send Victor's hat around the world and document its travels.
1. Send a photo of yourself and the hat in some exotic-to Victor at least-locale.
2.Send a photo, but please, only one a day. Twenty different photos of people in the same place on the same day all posing, well, how exotic is that?
I think anywheree is fine as long as there is some local significance to the place.

Because it needs to go around the world (based on hints from Vic that came after some initial plans had been made) and if we send it to all the live events we suspect the game will be over before it gets to Ehsan. First things first.

Just wanted to let everyone (especially konamouse) know that the Hat arrived safely today. It is size 7-1/4, which is bigger than my noggin, but probably smaller than many of the boys' heads that shall be sporting it.
