Re: VOIP Server

Ok guys, I'm definitely setting up a VOIP server for voice comms between the ground and support crew.

Will it be strictly a dialup phone number, or will you also have SIP/Skype access available for those of us across the globe?

Sorry Fraggle!!!

But it's better to be a known 'non-techie' than to pretend to be one, because if you're in a conversation with techies and you're asked a question all you can do is hmm and err and say something random to cover up.

I know this from experience!!! Hardcore techies will rip you to pieces if they even suspect that you're pretending (::cough Advanced Computer Systems, ::cough cough Easylink)

Skype won't work because it uses it's own proprietary protocol, which as far as im aware hasn't been GPL'd yet.

Yes SIP access will be provided for those who want it, and in fact I hope it's the main way of connecting to the server. PSTN trunk numbers are local London numbers so the ground crew members without wifi access (or if you can't connect to any hotspots) can just call into the conference call from their mobiles.

My favorite SIP client is x-lite and I've found it to look the best and also is the easiest to setup. Do you know of any other good clients Bri?

Yeah.

Just a thought. That web page only implies that we might be meeting members of the Receda group, doesn't have to be the mastermind, necessarily.

Well I took it from all the 'I will be there' that this was a message from the big boss, of course it could be someone lower down the food chain, but i think it likely they would get their commander in chief to brief the earth recruits if it some kind of cult, although the same would not be true if this were a more militaristic style organisation, but the cult vs army thing is a whole different kettle of fish.

I will totally be the "real time internet access and online assistance" in IRC, and I guess I will be for RL events for a while yet - till I go to Uni in several years time at any rate. Cool thing is, Pxc'll (hopefully) still be going on even then! Smile

Or if Perplex City isn't, then the next ARG that mindcandy comes up with will be! There was one interview where the guy behind this said that if/when someone wins this one, a whole new game will start up.Whether that will be Perplex City related or not we don't know.

Well, from the "I will be in position to monitor events" I took that the big boss could be able to "monitor events" without necessarily having to reveal himself, maybe monitoring everything from a safe place, via webcam or something. But this is Perplex City, so everything can happen. But isn't it too early to reveal the identity of the Big Boss? Ok, this is too much spec for the moment[/spec]

[SPEC] The Third Power are looking for the cube, and are prepared to match the reward offered by the PCA. They want us to divide into two factions, and push forward on seperate fronts.

Bring along your surplus cards to leave in our wake! We can be like a puzzling army of Hansels & Gretels!

Do I need to get an enriched prinppet, or is a normal one OK?

Hmmm, I was thinking, could this be a good way to start the second wave of cards? Not sure if there's already been any speculation on this though...
