I'm so conflicted! On one hand, I'm relieved to know Scarlett's okay. On the other hand, my whole world has been shattered because I can nolonger blindly believe in the vague suggestions of the Futures column! Aye me!

Good thing we didn't act on our paranoia.

I'm thinking that Scarlett's friends haven't contacted her family because they're 'incapacitated' too... ? I can't help wondering what Allain and/or Tom is/are doing right now. I don't think he/they was/were affected. I think the 'Hands' Futures was telling us that we need to do something ASAP to make sure Scarlett's Futures comes true.

I also have a feeling her family (and anyone else) can't see her blogs. I don't know if this is important, or not, but when I didn't get her email again last week, I wondered if it was a problem on my end, so I resubscribed. I added a personal note when I confirmed the subscription, adding "Are you alright?" I know those are usually auto-generated, but took a chance she might read it anyway, especially since I added "PLEASE READ!" in the subject line. To make a long story short, when did the 'Welcome' email start including a crypted message leading to 'scarlettsstory'? My original 'Welcome' email, a couple of months earlier, wasn't like that. Why encrypt it that way, when we already know about the hidden button, and the archives? It seems she's trying to hide the blogs from someone else who *may* be able to get into her e/key-mail. If she's told us not to tell anyone, then obviously (to me) no one else can see those messages. I think the "problem with her key" was our first warning something wasn't right.

How can we get someone there in enough time, though? What other modes of travel do they have? Surely, there's something faster than a train... ?

Jumbled thoughts... Head spinning... Worrying big time!

I see that Scarlett's blog was updated while I was typing this. Oh well, some of these things are still pertinent, I think. Going to read her blog now...

Hmm... It seems to me, that Allain had everything to do with this, and there was a big struggle amongst them (that Scarlett doesn't remember), but she wanted something to remind her of the incident. That's why she held onto Allain's broken key. But, how did it get broken? And what happened to Brede's leg, and how did they all end up at the bottom of a ravine? Has Allain gone on to Viendenbourg?

The sun was shining... Not night! Trees were thinning into nothing... Map showed no trees... Surely, they had a 'clear path', from Scarlett's description. Where did the ravine come from?

Perhaps I'm just being Romantic, but I'd like to believe that Allain is a "good guy," or at least not a "bad guy." Scarlett was searching for information on Viendenbourg, but as far as we can tell, she wouldn't have found anything if TOM hadn't tipped her off. It seems that Allain/TOM had an ulterior motive for bringing Scarlett and her friends out there, but I don't think that he is with the group trying to hide Viendenbourg.

My new SPEC:

Viendenbourg has been taken by the Third Power around the time of the war circa 5 BC. Everyone not associated with the 3P was killed. Someone from Allain's family escaped from the city and went into hiding. That would explain the "Viendenbourg. Before everything changed" line. I believe that Allain/TOM is operating as a free agent on a quest to end the work of whoever is at Viendenbourg. We know from Scarlett's email that there was a low-slung building with machinery running in the area. Perhaps TOM spent time in the archive waiting for someone to inquire about Viendenbourg or something similar in order to give him a chance to infiltrate the place. Essentially using Scarlett and Co. as a diversion. In the confusion, he takes a piece of his key with important information on it and then slips in, he hopes, undetected.

Of course I will probably be proven wrong yet again as new information becomes available, but it's a nice story.

I was for telling the Sentinel, but I didn't do it. Anyway, at least she's OK, but the last message seems to make just as many new questions as it answered from the one before it. It seems that not telling any of her family was the right thing to do, anyway.

I vote for caution - if she hasn't contacted us via email or blog updates, then we should tell Violet or Kurt I think. The two of them might have the best ideas as to where to go for help, who to ask, etc, etc.
