May I suggest that folks think about name tags? I have one I made for myself for ARGFest (just my avatar and the UF logo), but of course anything will do...

I was just thinking that myself - do we want ones like SF had?
Do we know who made those?

Autumn: catherwood made the spiffy name tags they had at SF
I agree that coordinating everything happening at once may be a bit hectic.
Maybe we should create on saturday a separate IRC channel for the live event coordination, comments, etc. I think it will be easier to have the event in one channel and the game updates in another.

Meh. The social Butterflies can take the random non game comments to the #uF channel.

another channel This isn't for social butterflies. This is for effective game related communication. The live event quest took time and coordination in the IRC channel. So do the updates.
It will be confusing to have both in the same channel, for this event, as both the live event and the site update will be happening at the exact same time.
For the San Fransicso event, we had a long gap of time between the update and the event, so we could handle it in one channel.

FYI the Congressional Cemetery has a pretty extensive website:
http://www.congressionalcemetery.org
The best map I've found is here partway through this PDF, pointing out famous graves:

Good for some advance scouting.

And now it looks like Atlanta is trying to steal our thunder with their own thread...
Anyway, I also thought it'd be a good idea to bring along a compass if you've got one. If the directions are once again in cardinal directions it may be useful to have one or two of those along.

I got the nametag info from catherwood.
I just need to know who is making it, so I can make nametags.

I have recruited an old friend in the DC area to join us and help gather chips.
I also picked up a digital AM/FM radio today, so that's covered.
And lastly, I would like a nametag por favor.

Cemetery Ettiquette There has been some discussion in chat about the ethics of playing games in cemeteries. Apparently some people attending the cemetery in SF for non-LCP reasons were offended. Although our only source for this is a local newspaper journalist, which is only a vaguely credible source IHMO.
I have certain reservations about the event this week-end but they are not going to stop me playing. I'd like to ask all uF players to ensure that they don't upset any other (real?) cemetery visitors and that they try to rein in any other gamers.
I realize that this is a fairly prissy posting, for that I apologise.

You have a good point, madam. We should all do our best to remember that while we're there to have fun, it isn't a party house.
It wouldn't do to get ARGers as a whole bad press.

May I offer a few suggestions for being a good neighbor? (I work for a funeral home - and spent several years at one located on cemetery property)
Even though the cemeteries have given permission to be used for the game keep the following in mind.
Respecting the dead:
1. Keep to the paths that are marked out and do not take shortcuts across graves. (Would you like people trammpling over your grandparents?) -there are usually narrow sidewalks in sections that lead from the main roads for this. If there are no paths, try walking just above/behind the headstone, this will put you at the foot of the gravespace in the row above, and is the least offensive. The same applies to sitting down to play a round of poker - try to stay close to the foot of the grave, and not in the middle of it.
2. Try to keep the volume of your voice down. This is a place of reflection on the past, not a sports arena. The people who are not there for the ARG may still be dealing with grief. Out of respect for the living as well as the dead, keep unnecessary sounds to a minimum.
3. Do not sit on top of the above ground crypts -I didn't see anything from San Fran. like that, but I'm stating it now to prevent it from happening in the future.
4. If you notice family coming to pay respects to someone in the area where you are playing, move the poker group to another place quietly. The family doesn't need to hear giggling, or other conversation. (It would be appropriate to hand them a flower in remembrance if you have to pass near them as well).
Please keep in mind that everyone processes grief differently, some do not wish to discuss the departed with strangers, and others would appreciate the chance to tell others about the good memories they have. Some will cry and appreciate a show of sympathy, while others may express themselves with anger. Give them the same compassion that you would hope for your own family in a similar circumstance.
Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

There are also some on-line maps of the place

Nicely done, Magesteff! Not sure if I will be able to make any of the events, but I'll be sure to read your post again if I do.
