Attack of the Green Iguana

We recently had a Green Iguana move into our neighborhood. In the overgrown county owned property behind our house to be precise.

Yesterday he was sitting on top of our back fence, eating the chinese lantern vine that is growing there. It was probably 4 to 5 feet in length including the tail (main body was about 18 to 24 inches I guess).

Our year old Dobi/shep. mix dog spotted it right away when he went outside. When he got to close the Iguana lept off the fence into the trees and brush behind the fence.

Today the dog caught the Iguana in our backyard and picked it up and carried it around a while, shaking it and flinging it a couple of times before carrying it up near the house.

Thankfully neither dog nor Iguana were severely injured. The dog was brought into the house than the Iguana climbed up on the cement patio table we have out in the middle of the yard (fallen over when the dog dug around the base and then it rained and allowed it to tip over), it looked around for a bit before making it's escape from the back yard.

Anyone have any ideas on how to keep the iguana out of the back yard?

If we have to get a trapper for it, that will cost $250.

If you can wait it out a couple weeks, place a complaint with code enforcement about the unmaintained county land. (I had a decent chunk of county land behind my property in FL... it always took a complaint with Code Enforcement to get them out there). They'll clean up the land and the iguana will likely move to a more hospitable location and/or they'll come across him and the county will trap & move it for you.

Catch it, train it to ride around on your head, and name it Quincy.
