I would love to help over analyze the Vibration 13 website. I have decent IT skills and am a huge fan of this game since I began to play it. I also have decent detection skills, so sign me up. I havent posted much beyond my initial discovery of the map and the thomas paine bridge/key stuff, but I am here at this website at least every day. So I am ready to do this.

Okay, I'm delivering what I can for ya, Raeden.

Toby's take on Iz: (via toby's blog)
Quote:
I've been helping Islington, a fairly mysterious character by all accounts, with his search for 13 books. He contacted me shortly before the full moon last month, and asked for my help in putting together just a simple web page online. But then everything went really strange, people started getting all sorts of peculiar messages from him, and files kept appearing and reappearing... in my years as a webdesigner I've not seen anything like it. The site is called Triskabiblios. So far it seems to be progressing quite well, because lots of friendly helpful people have come forward to offer help. But to be honest, I have no idea what Islington has in store. He wont tell my why he chose me, for a start. I'm feeling a bit perplexed by the whole thing... I'm the 13th Scribe. I suppose that makes sense, I do go by the moniker Vibration13. But this thing carries with it a whole sense of responsibility that a mere webdesign job doesn't have.
But I'm grateful to be a part of it. I have spoken to some of the Scribes and they seem nice, far cleverer at solving puzzles than I am, I'm afraid. And the other players are ace, Islington assures me that nobody will be left out in the long run.

Gleaning info from Orkid's LJ: ( the .....'s indicate passage of text)

Quote:
I met the wierdest guy, he was kinda staring at me for ages, I was in the library, just chillin out in the massive science section they've got there - its a reference library in Austin - lush. Anyway, he comes up to me suddenly, drops a note on my copy of some grubby Einstien, and it's this rolled up bit of parchment.

.....I picked up the note, about to give him some lip for being abit freaky, but he'd rushed off. I dont think anybody else saw him, so he could of done anything! Psycho! Anyway, I opened the note he dropped...

Orkid - it said - Orchid's my name (long story - blame my parents) - he knew my name! I sure has hell didnt ever meet this guy b4, he was well obvious looking. I'd remember. I'll just type out the rest of the note.

Sorry to startle you. We do know each other, just not yet. Thanks for your help.
Time/mind3 - it looked more like a simple equation - time divided by mind cubed... wierd ... and then the word - Triskabiblios.

.....I found myself dreaming about Islington. Dancing under the full moon light. A dance strange snakey dance that wraps itself round and round the room, round your soul like a silken ribbon, yet powerful like a ninja. He is infecting my life.

.....Even the dreams have subsided... (infatuated indeed - *harrumph!*). There was something magical about him. Im feeling more positive generally. Now we have something to work towards. He says he knows where the Future is. I want to go there!!

.....I will say this about Islington, he does pick some nice folks to spook.

.....He's dropped some hints as to his particular method of Time Travel... he seems to 'blink' most around the Full Moon period...
I'm guessing that he must travel back and forth in Time randomly, but in reference to the same Full Moon, just different years. So - the Equinox, when all this wierd stuff started, he would travel through all Equinoxes in Time. Lots of them, anyway...

.....Where does he go when he's not leaping through moonbeams? Trapped, no doubt, in some Time, stranded until the next month's window of oppurtunity. How does he manage? It must be hard to cope with...

at chronos he posted:

It's good to find people who are on the same wavelength! Finally, a few voices of experience out here in the wilderness of Transtemporal wanderings.

I'm Islington. I'm looking for the 13 books, the essential encrypted information I need to travel. I'm stuck without them, lost, in a shakey state of flux. And alone. All my colleagues at Triskabiblios seperated from me in the event in which the 13books were first lost. The accident cost me dearly. Now, I'm flitting between chronologically significant points, seemingly at random. I need those books, they must be brought together.

So... I need your help.

It's going to be hard... cryptic coincidences you would normally filter out... but I know (with the benifit of optimistic hindsight) -that your help is both vital, and gratefully recieved.

Islington

paperchaser recognised it as a mobius strip.

Islington talks about it here:
Quote:
toby - so what is this? what's the point?
islington - we are creating a vortex
toby - right
islington - all of these interactions, from past, present and future, have repurcussions that are felt in other parts of time. Time isn't linear, it's a mobius strip - infinity
toby - you said.
islington - did I? will I?
toby - anyway, yeah -
islington - when the interactions, whether they be electrons leaping from a stray atom, to worldwide social interactions between people across Time - when they reach critical mass, everything will come together.
toby - so... we have to do this?
islington - theres no compunction. You don't have to do anything... There is only One Time. It's infinite. So whatever you choose to do, that's what Is.

It was in the first few pages of the monster thread. I was searching the forum looking for who posted the info on the mobius strip. I'm looking for more info on Iz in there now. Smile

Edit: Info from the monster thread ([13books][Trailhead] Triskabiblios | the13books) pgs1-10.

Thanks for your speedy reply Tim - though I waited 3 and a half years for
it, I suppose that's not your problem and nor is it your fault.
I can't speak for long because I'm starting to feel the headaches. I've come
to expect them before and after the Blink.

To Duckie,
Quote:
Actually I was friends with one of the founding members of Colgate, for a short while. Stuffy man, but then this was 1817, and to be honest most of the academic world was stuffy right up to the 1960's, where things started getting really quantumly sideways.

Don't worry about the seeming co-incidences though. Think of them more like 'everything happening at once'... it's only a co-incidence if you notice, and attach a significance to the event. On it's own a co-incidence is just a tree falling in the forest. It takes the thinking mind to distinguish.

sixsidedsquare found this Iz comment on lazylaces,

To Varin,

I have been in this Timeframe for a few days now and the unpleasant effects of the blink are begining to wear off. It's like a hangover, if you've ever happened to have drunk a whole bottle of bleachy gin. It takes this long for my concept of time to settle down, at least now I can write in the correct tense - thats a particularily annoying problem of mine.
In answer to your question, I am seeking something. It's the Library of Triskabiblios, the 13 books. They were lost in the accident when I first blinked.

To Varin,

How do you think I felt when I first found myself Blinking? Very discombobulated, I must say.

Orkid to Duckie,
Quote:
orkidquantum: so any sightings of this Islington guy?
orkidquantum: I wish I could have got a better look at him
orkidquantum: I dunno if I'd reckognize him again
orkidquantum: tho he was very tall
orkidquantum: dark
orkidquantum: not very hansome though (too old for me!)

To Duckie,
Quote:
And my first name is Triscal. My mother was French.

I: what you need, my friend, is a Truly Original Idea.
Just don't get carried away with it!
N: hmmm... original, you say? I'll bear that in mind.
-time passes-
I: now what did I tell you?
N: Ummmmm....
I: about the carrying?
N: ahh.

The Nash above was assumed to be John Nash. Duckie commented saying
Quote:
The Real Nash didn't have grandoise imaginings about people no one else can see... thats not how the disease works. What he did imagine was that he was recieving secret messages from aliens. He wrote a book about it which may, perhaps, be one of the 13
Oh, and Nash went to Yale, no?

Whee. I'm done for today. Hope it helps.

Great work people, there's lots of potential stuff here for me to use.

As for the writing, I have finished the first draft of chapter one. It's in Dutch, so far. I am not sure if I will continue with 2 and 3 or complete 1 first. But I will edit it by computer, and I am willing to send it for proofread/feedback to anyone who's willing (which are a number of people already, you guys are very supportive Smile). There's only one slight problem, as from here, I have 4 options relating to the language of my work.

1. I can use one English word after every two Dutch words

2. I can throw in English words at random, 370 or 371 per chapter.

3. I can use an English sentence ever so often.

4. I can make little parts in English, making them small pieces of text that are intelligible to everyone here and giving you at least something to give feedback on.

Note that I will not make a complete english version until I have finished the final version, I cannot make an english draft too, even though it would be usefull to get more proofreading and potential editors, simply because I don't have time for that. I can however, make brief summaries of drafts when they're ready for proofreading. However, there's not much to proofread on summaries, they would be purely for the satisfaction of your curiosity, and would make reading a full version even less pleasant than it will already be Wink

Option 4 doesn't appeal to me a lot, though it would make things easier. Personally I think I will use option 1 or 2, but I am yet again open to suggestions.

Toby informed me on why it should be bilingual. He want's more Dutch people involved, by giving them something to read that is a bit of a puzzle. He argued that I shouldn't make an english version myself, so I wont. He also told me about making an compilation of artsy things to reach people in the world, and to create a Triskabiblios Trust Fund.

I am so sorry, but I will not make an english version yet, as Toby came with valid arguments. I hope this doesn't piss you guys off, as I am so grateful for the information you've suplied me with.

Catching Up and John Nash

I've been trying to catch up here on Triskabiblios for the past couple of weeks, and finally have something to say, yay! (Minor though it is...) I believe John Nash went to Princeton, and taught there and at MIT, but I don't know of any connection to Yale. I'm going to double check, though.

We can easily translate the Dutch part of the assignment, no worries there.
Also, does anyone get the feeling maybe WE are going to write the 13 books? Surprised

That's actually one of the first things I said to Duckie or Six, a few days after the fun started at LL
