October 19 Chat With Orkid

I gave this it's own topic given the current mood of the community as a whole. It is rather long, but I feel it is full of important information given our current quest status.

I just had a chat with...OH YES...Orkid

rukind88: greetings
rukind88: mountain girl here
orkidquantum: hello!
orkidquantum: hi MG
orkidquantum: you ok?
rukind88: How are you?
orkidquantum: alright
rukind88: I'm great
orkidquantum: abit dissapointed by all the negativity
rukind88: As am I. I do however feel quite confused as well. I don't know what to do next.
rukind88: Did you see my post about the next full moon's book drop?
orkidquantum: I think it's a beautiful idea
orkidquantum: *hugs*
rukind88: November 15.
orkidquantum: I'll do the same
orkidquantum: yes
orkidquantum: nice one
orkidquantum: I might not be able to wait that long
orkidquantum: hehe
rukind88: It was withe that inspired me. She did it on her own.
orkidquantum: awesome
rukind88: Do you know Book Zero is now truly "lost"?
orkidquantum: the point of triskabiblios, as far as I see it, is to bring to the forfront of human consciosness the fact that we can, as individuals, shape reality. So if we work together in this one hope, with some practical means, it might be possible
orkidquantum: I belive it is
rukind88: I see and feel that.
rukind88: I hope others do as well.
orkidquantum: Yes
orkidquantum: I think people were expecting some kind of instant gratification
rukind88: It would be a beautiful thing to enlighten an join together fellow beings in such a way. It's a great catalyst for change
orkidquantum: but it's more about the people network we are creating
orkidquantum: some really strong bonds of friendship
orkidquantum: with a common goal of hope
rukind88: Instant gratification IS nice. Especially when one is thinking they are playing a game with puzzles to solve.
orkidquantum: well we did solve the puzzles
orkidquantum: as far as I can tell
rukind88: I understand it is more than that. As I think others do as well
orkidquantum: all the places that were referenced, we understood the reference
orkidquantum: but no clear times were given
orkidquantum: which is an unfortunate quirk of Islington's condition
rukind88: Full moon morning was a pretty cleaar time
orkidquantum: yeah thats true
rukind88: Where do you think we begin to look for the book now, though?
orkidquantum: The Library
orkidquantum: that's where it was last seen
orkidquantum: hey, it could even still be there!"

orkidquantum: hahah
orkidquantum: all this time arguing
rukind88: Right. I see. It's quite a lesson to be taught, isn't it?
rukind88: How though could it be at the library still? If it was put in the gate someone surely would have removed it don't you think?
rukind88: Are you there?
orkidquantum: not nessecarily
orkidquantum: from what Toby said it sounded as if it was quite high up
orkidquantum: in the A he said
orkidquantum: well theres lots of A's
orkidquantum: but maybe it was a way up in the top or second row
rukind88: Hmmm Maybe someone needs to go check. It's kind of hard for me considering I'm in the states and all....
orkidquantum: hmm
rukind88: if i were there i would be rushing out the door as we speaqk
rukind88: by my typing you'd think I was blinking
orkidquantum: hehehe
rukind88: How is your new job?
orkidquantum: lovely
orkidquantum: the people I work with are swell
orkidquantum: and theres all the books I could want
rukind88: I'm glad. I've been thinking the best of thoughts your way with your new endeavor.
rukind88: I hate for anyone to go on another goose chase given the current vibe of those involved in the actual legwork. Do you really think it's still there?
orkidquantum: well it was on monday
orkidquantum: its now wednesday
orkidquantum: so it's possible
rukind88: but improbable
orkidquantum: but less likely as the days wear on
orkidquantum: If we got some posters made up, with a picture of book zero on it, explaining how it was left
rukind88: If I make one up who should I send it to for posting do you think?
rukind88: obviously posting it around Knoxville, Tennessee isn't going to do much good.
orkidquantum: um
orkidquantum: try sending it to the library themselves?
orkidquantum: it's worth a try
orkidquantum: I think they'd respond better to letters
orkidquantum: more formal
rukind88: Yes, someone called and asked about a lost book with a red front cover but they said they had nothing like that in the lost and found.
orkidquantum: it was left in the gate. in the A, if you go by what Toby says
rukind88: Yes, maybe those specific details would spark a reply.
orkidquantum: yes
orkidquantum: also, some people must have seen it go in there
orkidquantum: he must have climed up
orkidquantum: and also
orkidquantum: apparently he had some kind of teapot?
orkidquantum: that's memorable
rukind88: very
rukind88: you would think he would have been hauled in for questioning given the current state of affairs
rukind88: hehe
orkidquantum: I think it's fairly clear he's benign
rukind88: how so
rukind88: Perhaps he's known to the library and it's staff.
rukind88: ?
rukind88: I wonder when Graeme's page is going to come back up, if ever and why it was taken down to begin with
orkidquantum: I don't knwo, maybe
rukind88: Do you think it was because Graeme failed in his task?
orkidquantum: no
rukind88: That doesn't seem quite the Triska spirit
orkidquantum: i just noticed
orkidquantum: it's back
orkidquantum: Neutral
rukind88: his page is back?
orkidquantum: maybe it was a false alarm
rukind88: is it different?
orkidquantum: no
orkidquantum: maybe it was a server thing
rukind88: I'll make up a query for the book and send it to the library. perhaps we will gain some knowledge. I will also ask ThatDeadDude to do one last scope if he's up for it. Maybe we will yield a fruitful harvest
orkidquantum: I think those living in London should be the most keen to help
rukind88: It will take the obligatory 10 days for my letter to get there.
rukind88: from the states
orkidquantum: I wouldnt like to be from the City that took Book Zero
orkidquantum: yeah
orkidquantum: but thanks MG
orkidquantum: you're a star
orkidquantum: include the photo that deaddude unlocked
rukind88: You are as well. I'm glad to "talk" with you again
rukind88: you mean the library photo?
rukind88: or the solid id one?
rukind88: the red cover.. I get it
orkidquantum: yeah
orkidquantum: so they know what to look for
rukind88: Right.
orkidquantum: maybe ask them to check the footage of the night in question
orkidquantum: though that might get someone in trouble,,, ehehhe
rukind88: from the security cameras? They might not be too keen on that.
orkidquantum: they wouldnt release the footage, perhaps, but they might be able to confirm or deny
orkidquantum: if anyone picked it up
rukind88: ahhhh good thinking
orkidquantum: if you wrote to the actual security department
rukind88: uh huh.. good point
orkidquantum: and appealed to their better nature....
rukind88: Perhaps a plea for their benevolence
orkidquantum: yes]
orkidquantum: hehe
rukind88: let them know how much the book means
rukind88: yada yada
orkidquantum: yeah
orkidquantum: good thinking
orkidquantum: let us all know what you do...
orkidquantum: maybe it will inspire some others to think around this problem rather than argue over it
rukind88: Hopefully. I'd better get busy, then. Blessings Abound to you dear Orkid Scribe.
rukind88: May your journey's be kind.
orkidquantum: blessing akimbo to you!
rukind88: yet adventurous
orkidquantum: hehe

So, TDD I know it is a lot to ask, but could you check the library gate (Way up high) I will make a page to send, however it would be more adventagious for someone in the area to do so.

See, what were we all bitching about? Keep the Faith!

1. Who wants to go check out the library, 1st or 2nd row from the top of th library gate.

2. I'll make the poster and send it unless someone closer wants to. I'll even make it and send it to you so you can get it there faster.

3. I'll try and call the security dept. in the morning. I'll use my power of persuasion (more like the afore mentioned "plea for benevolence") to extract some info.

Any other ideas?

As long as we are posting Orkid convos....I had one with her before I went out this evening. Here it is:

fullonparanoid: Hey there you.....how goes it?
orkidquantum: hi there
orkidquantum: it goes ok thanks
orkidquantum: and you?
fullonparanoid: Grand. Wink
fullonparanoid: You don't have Book Zero hidden in your cupboard with your cupcakes...do ya? Razz
orkidquantum: hehe I wish
orkidquantum: hey how do you feel about what happened?
fullonparanoid: (loose rendering of a Simon and Garfunkel song)
fullonparanoid: ummm
fullonparanoid: no real feelings one way or the other actually
fullonparanoid: odd, eh?
fullonparanoid: Wink
fullonparanoid: I am just gonna go with the flow
fullonparanoid: If things continue...and we 'pick up the scent'....Good. I'm in.
fullonparanoid: If things do not continue and it is 'over'. Fine....I had fun, learned new things, 'met' interesting people...and had fun!
fullonparanoid: Wink
fullonparanoid: Either way....I am ok.
fullonparanoid: As I told someone earlier....it takes a whole lot to get my proverbial 'panties in a bunch'. Very Happy
orkidquantum: I think it's interesting
orkidquantum: I dont think it's over
orkidquantum: there is still things we can do
orkidquantum: we have to find the book, but some of the comments that have been made dont seem to productive to me
fullonparanoid: Well, the only thing that kinda bothers me....is this:
orkidquantum: go on
fullonparanoid: Either the book is truly lost...meaning no one has clue as to who picked it up....
fullonparanoid: in which case...we are pretty screwed. It could have been a bum...someone without internet....a tourist from the jungles of Bora-Bora
orkidquantum: ummm
fullonparanoid: would be virtually impossible to track down
fullonparanoid: OR.....
orkidquantum: I think we will have to up our game
fullonparanoid: The book is not truly lost....in that 'someone' in the know knows who picked it up
fullonparanoid: in which case....perhaps a nudge in the right direction in the form of a 'clue' or hint would (in my opinion) be called for
fullonparanoid: ya know what I mean?
orkidquantum: I think it's out there
orkidquantum: in the dreaded real world
fullonparanoid: well...of course it is out there
orkidquantum: but... there must have been witnesses
orkidquantum: probably cctv
orkidquantum: passers by
fullonparanoid: but, if it is 'in the hands' of someone unreachable by means (ordinary or extraoridinary) we are hosed
fullonparanoid: And, as far as passers by....the only people who can quiz them are those that are in or near London
orkidquantum: thats trye
orkidquantum: true
orkidquantum: but we can support, and advise
orkidquantum: I dont know
orkidquantum: lets get a poster done
fullonparanoid: thus far....I only know of Graeme and Deaddude and Toby...and to ask them to go start asking strangers odd questions is a bit of a stretch
orkidquantum: and post it around the area
fullonparanoid: I mean, it is very easy for us to do research and whatnot on our computers....but to ask them to do footwork is a lot to ask
fullonparanoid: puts a lot on their shoulders
orkidquantum: I wouldnt have a problem with asking strangers odd questions if it were in Austin
fullonparanoid: and based on the results of their footwork thus far....I don't know if they would be up to it
fullonparanoid: heh...I ask strangers things all the time
orkidquantum: I think some people spend too much time in front of flat screens and need to spend abit of time enjoying stereoscopic vision for a change... hehehe
orkidquantum: yes
fullonparanoid: but....realistically speaking....where should the line be drawn?
orkidquantum: talking to strangers is the bedrock of a healthy society
fullonparanoid: as far as asking them to do all the 'work' that is
orkidquantum: well you can only expect someone to do as much as they can
fullonparanoid: from what I can tell...it is not as simple as walking down the block
fullonparanoid: they all have to actually travel
fullonparanoid: to get there
orkidquantum: but I think that this negativity doesnt help
fullonparanoid: not as far as us, obviously
fullonparanoid: I am far from negative
fullonparanoid: neither a pessamist nor an optimist am I
orkidquantum: hehe
fullonparanoid: a realist
fullonparanoid: reality says that for all of us to pin our hopes on the few blokes that live near London doing our bidding...is a lot
orkidquantum: not if we exercise strategy
orkidquantum: lets think positive
fullonparanoid: I did like the fact that Shyshdy posted a Craig's list Lost post
fullonparanoid: make me grin
orkidquantum: yes
orkidquantum: that's the spirit
orkidquantum: I like her initiative
fullonparanoid: Again....I am not being negative....really
orkidquantum: it's ok
orkidquantum: I can understand all the negativity
fullonparanoid: I am in for the long haul
orkidquantum: people expected it to be one thing and it turned out to be something else
orkidquantum: theres bound to be growing pains
fullonparanoid: hah!
fullonparanoid: there is where you are wrong (at least with me)
orkidquantum: hehe
orkidquantum: oh really?
fullonparanoid: I expected nothing
orkidquantum: ooh
orkidquantum: good tactic
orkidquantum: not dissapointed yet?
fullonparanoid: Wink
orkidquantum: heheh
fullonparanoid: again....overall it is a success in my eyes...even if it were to end here
orkidquantum: well I dont think it would
orkidquantum: end, that is
orkidquantum: because, for a start
orkidquantum: it's about time travel
fullonparanoid: People were introduced to new ideas/authors/books, I met neat folks, I shared a book, I received a book(thanks again!)....and I HAD FUN(rule 13 and all)
orkidquantum: a book could dissapear out of our grasp for a while only to reappear
orkidquantum: plus I have faith in our ramshackle group of searchers that we'll find it
fullonparanoid: well....especially....when you recall that there are supposed to be multiple copies of it. Wink
fullonparanoid: I think people have forgotten that
orkidquantum: lets try getting an appeal on a london radio station?
orkidquantum: there's multiple copies? I dont think so
orkidquantum: I thought the 13 books were unique
orkidquantum: hence their value as time travel artifacts
fullonparanoid: Book Zero is not one of the 13
fullonparanoid: one was supposed to be auctioned for charity or somehting
orkidquantum: that was Issue Zero
fullonparanoid: don't quite remember all the detatils
orkidquantum: of Vibration13
orkidquantum: thats a comic
fullonparanoid: Oh....color me a crackhead
fullonparanoid: lol
orkidquantum: hehe
orkidquantum: no worries
orkidquantum: theres alot to take in
fullonparanoid: no kidding@!
fullonparanoid: Do you know if anyone has heard from Graeme?
orkidquantum: I havent
fullonparanoid: oh....that is another thing
orkidquantum: hes posted on ll I think
orkidquantum: so hes alright
fullonparanoid: what about the scribes that have thrown in the towel?
fullonparanoid: Do you think that is why Graeme's page is gone?
fullonparanoid: Rowan seems pretty put out as well
orkidquantum: I dont know
orkidquantum: it's up to people to decide
fullonparanoid: jackalope, MG, Withe, Toby, Raeden(for now), Shy(Sam), are in as far as I know
orkidquantum: I'm sure if they formally retire then thered be lots of people happy to take up their place
fullonparanoid: I dunno....might be hard to recruit at this point
fullonparanoid: hold a sec....gotta let my dog out
orkidquantum: ok
fullonparanoid: back
orkidquantum: I dont know
orkidquantum: I think alot of people realise this is more than a game
fullonparanoid: so, yeah.....hard to get people to sign up for the responsibility at this point
fullonparanoid: yeah, but it is like supporting the police vs. becoming a cop
fullonparanoid: one takes a lot more time and effort
fullonparanoid: ya dig?
fullonparanoid: Wink
orkidquantum: yeah
fullonparanoid: I do believe that there is a VERY strong core of 'suppporters'....but not all would be willing to step into a scribe position
fullonparanoid: I would probably have to count myself among that category
orkidquantum: thats fine
orkidquantum: I dont know
orkidquantum: I know I am still happy to be one
fullonparanoid: oh yeah!
fullonparanoid: don't get me wrong....
fullonparanoid: it is not a punishment to be one!! lol
orkidquantum: I dont even see that this turn of events was a mistake
orkidquantum: it certainly makes it harder
fullonparanoid: I am just one who sticks firmly to my commitments....and I do not think that I would be able to commit to the time needed to be one
orkidquantum: but then we have demonstrated we can solve clues academically
fullonparanoid: so, yeah...I am not dissin' the scribes AT ALL
orkidquantum: but this involves real life, social interaction
orkidquantum: maybe we computerish types arent so strong in that department
orkidquantum: hehehe
fullonparanoid: lol....I am far from a 'computerish' type
orkidquantum: hehe I was joking
fullonparanoid: in fact...I am just about the exact opposite
fullonparanoid: Wink
orkidquantum: glad to hear it
orkidquantum: so, imagine if it were in your home city
orkidquantum: what would you do?
fullonparanoid: Craigs list
fullonparanoid: go to location and scope around
orkidquantum: yeah?
fullonparanoid: perhaps newspaper...though....around here not many people utilise it
fullonparanoid: yeha
orkidquantum: there must be other londoners into the game besides deaddude and graeme
fullonparanoid: Craigs list is the dealie
fullonparanoid: not that I have come across thus far....but, yeah, probably
orkidquantum: well lets get some adverts in london
orkidquantum: get an announcement read over the radio
orkidquantum: that might jog a few memories
orkidquantum: we can do that from here, surely?
fullonparanoid: I would not even know where to begin with that...as far as which papers/stations etc......must be literally 100's to choose from (if London is remotely like D.C.)
fullonparanoid: With my luck I would pick the paper that caters to 'one armed, albino, midgets with lisps' and the radio station that 'deaf, octagenarian, alien abductees' listen to...
fullonparanoid: Wink
fullonparanoid: Would want to find the paper and station that has the highest 'clientel'
orkidquantum: yeah
orkidquantum: well I sometimes get brit papers just cos it's nice to get a perspecive from outside... our news tends to be a bit one sided
fullonparanoid: no kidding....one sided? US papers? nahhhhhhh.....
fullonparanoid: lol
orkidquantum: hehehe
orkidquantum: wow I noticed hehe
fullonparanoid: Other than Graeme, Deaddude and Toby.....oh....and 'Kipper'....do you know of any other Brits involved?
orkidquantum: yann
orkidquantum: umm
orkidquantum: there are others
orkidquantum: none in the scribes
orkidquantum: as far as I know
fullonparanoid: when was the last time Yann was heard from?
orkidquantum: but players, yeah
orkidquantum: ummm
orkidquantum: true
fullonparanoid: before I forget.....do you mind if I share this convo with others? Or.....is there any part of it you would prefer I not?
orkidquantum: um, no I'm happy
fullonparanoid: k
orkidquantum: I'm a fairly open person
fullonparanoid: so, what is your social security number?
orkidquantum: plus I think people could use a little positivity
orkidquantum: hahah
orkidquantum: I'd tell you
fullonparanoid: your mothers maiden name?
fullonparanoid: lol
orkidquantum: mothers maiden name
orkidquantum: Shaw
fullonparanoid: lol
orkidquantum: there
orkidquantum: I'm so trusting
fullonparanoid: funny
orkidquantum: Razz
fullonparanoid: ;0
fullonparanoid: oops
fullonparanoid: Wink
fullonparanoid: I think that there are really 3 camps at this point....those in all the way (like Withe)....those out all the way (like Rowan)....and those waffling on the fence (like Law).
fullonparanoid: it is the last group that seems to be the most negative
fullonparanoid: because they are the ones that expected/wished for more
fullonparanoid: ya know?
orkidquantum: yeah
orkidquantum: Im just reading Laws latest post and he seems to have calmed down abit
orkidquantum: I hope he's coming round
orkidquantum: he mentioned a poster
orkidquantum: which I thnk is a great idea
orkidquantum: that would probably do the trick
orkidquantum: or, a few of them might
fullonparanoid: I've not read the most recent stuff
fullonparanoid: but, yeah, posters are better than newspaper ads in my opinion
fullonparanoid: more likely to be noticed
orkidquantum: true
orkidquantum: and by people who haunt that area
fullonparanoid: yup
fullonparanoid: do you know if there are laws about posting things in London?
fullonparanoid: Not allowed to here....they get removed pretty quickly
orkidquantum: uhh, you can get away with it to a certain extent in London
orkidquantum: not everywhere
orkidquantum: but lamposts and stuff I hear
fullonparanoid: I will try to reach Graeme....I have a couple of his email addresses...
orkidquantum: I went there awhile ago
orkidquantum: it wasnt the tidiest place
fullonparanoid: see if I can convince him to do a few
fullonparanoid: It has been a long time since I was there
orkidquantum: I think he would, he seems keen
fullonparanoid: like....9 years
orkidquantum: heeh
orkidquantum: it wasnt that long for me
orkidquantum: 4 years
orkidquantum: school trip
orkidquantum: (expensive one at that)
fullonparanoid: cool....heh...I was backpacking/hitchhiking
orkidquantum: niice
fullonparanoid: not quite so expensive
fullonparanoid: lol
orkidquantum: yes
orkidquantum: thats what I want to do
orkidquantum: go wandering in the world
fullonparanoid: In Germany we would clean stalls and rake 'yards' for a meal and a place to sleep
fullonparanoid: I am a wanderer
orkidquantum: cool
orkidquantum: yes
orkidquantum: I have a wandering spirit
fullonparanoid: 'tis a good thing to have
orkidquantum: yes
fullonparanoid: Smile
orkidquantum: not afraid of change
fullonparanoid: open to new experiences
fullonparanoid: probably one of the reasons this whole ride has not tripped me out....
fullonparanoid: lol
orkidquantum: yeah
fullonparanoid: I all like....ummm...Ok!
fullonparanoid: I'm
orkidquantum: some people are a little more narrow in their perceptions
fullonparanoid: this is true
orkidquantum: which is what I thnk the game is trying to help with
fullonparanoid: my perceptions have been...ummmm....tinkered with abundantly
fullonparanoid: Smile
orkidquantum: getting people out of the mental box people have been trying to think out of
orkidquantum: hehe
orkidquantum: it's not such a bad thing
orkidquantum: it's all good clean stuff
fullonparanoid: I live outside the box
orkidquantum: yeah
orkidquantum: it's the best place
fullonparanoid: yup yup
orkidquantum: who wants to live in a box??
fullonparanoid: lol
fullonparanoid: obviously not your mouse!!
orkidquantum: no...
fullonparanoid: Well, I gots to jet.....I will try to contact Graeme...and I will pass on our convo to a few.....take care hon
orkidquantum: cool
orkidquantum: thanks!
orkidquantum: see you soon
orkidquantum: nice talkin

I am heading to email Graeme now. It seems to me as though, at this point, we have to depend upon him and other Brits to fulfill the next steps. Here's to hoping that they are 'game'. Wink

Carry on....

What I felt were important points to the long conversations:

Is the book still there?

Quote:

orkidquantum: The Library
orkidquantum: that's where it was last seen
orkidquantum: hey, it could even still be there!"
orkidquantum: from what Toby said it sounded as if it was quite high up
orkidquantum: in the A he said
orkidquantum: well theres lots of A's
orkidquantum: but maybe it was a way up in the top or second row
rukind88: I hate for anyone to go on another goose chase given the current vibe of those involved in the actual legwork. Do you really think it's still there?
orkidquantum: well it was on monday
orkidquantum: its now wednesday
orkidquantum: so it's possible

What we need to do:

Quote:

orkidquantum: I think we will have to up our game
orkidquantum: If we got some posters made up, with a picture of book zero on it, explaining how it was left
orkidquantum: try sending it to the library themselves?
orkidquantum: I think they'd respond better to letters

The Real Purpose:
Quote:

orkidquantum: some people are a little more narrow in their perceptions

Confidence Abound!
Quote:

orkidquantum: a book could dissapear out of our grasp for a while only to reappea
orkidquantum: plus I have faith in our ramshackle group of searchers that we'll find it

I'm am not so naive as to think someone could be manipulating me in order to trap me in a dark basement and brutally skin me to make a beautiful lamp for their deceased mother. I, however, believe the only way to make the world a better place is to think the best of people until proven otherwise. That being said, I think we have been given direct clues to the purpose and instructions for our quest. Therefore, "Troops, rally!" But move it beyond the "I'm playing a game" mode to "I'm playing an amazingly difficult, yet provoking, game that could change the world (if even for one person).

I mean give me a spoonfull of fantasy in my cup of reality any day, but let's stay grounded here
