Don't mean to double-post, but the first one was long enough.

I also like the idea of braille. That sounds exactly like texels; although 3D pixels are also kind of "texels"...

Beth Password

Before the system went down I was looking at the archives on Little Boxes. There are only two articles that are listed as having "logical explanations." One is about Rip Van Winkle which took place in "Oceania". I didn't have a chance to look at the other article but given the aquatic themes here, I wonder if this is a potential clue/password. May be worth extrapolating on Rip Van Winkle or Oceania.

ALSO, has anyone tried to do anything with the green "M" that is a watermark on the Metacortex directory page/map of the world?

A new Direction

i just thought of something to do with the roman numerals...
d=500, x=10, c=100, iv=4
altogether its 614... right?
now
since there "roman numerals" i figured the book of romans in the bible, because the matrix has alot of biblical refrences (zion... to name one)
so i grabbed a bible Shocked ... and...
"for sin shall not be your master because you are not under law, but under grace"...
try and get somethin outta that Wink

I find it a little odd that the "also." jpeg looks to have a slightly different file format than the other two. Here are the three images run through the Unix "file" command:
Code:
% file carelessly.doc.jpg
carelessly.doc.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01, resolution (DPI), 72 x 72
% file carelessly.jpg
carelessly.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01, aspect ratio, 1 x 1
% file carelessly.mp3.jpg
carelessly.mp3.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01, aspect ratio, 1 x 1
%

Is there a way to determine the compression level (even approximate) that was used to save a jpeg? If we can determine whether "also." was saved using very little compression, we will know that there will also be very little artifacting, which means the "zeros" (or whatever) are intentional. If it was saved using high compression, we know there will be more loss, therefore more artifacting, and the zeros are probably us chasing our shadows.

Might there be other metadata in there? Preview thumbnails and all that... I am afraid that I know the concepts, but not the details, behind the internals of jpeg images.

What if the points in that box are related to a code, and if they are substituted in the file name, gives the password to Ormond ? It seems the kind of puzzle that thematrix.com had given before...

I'd hazard to guess that there is no way that these "zeros" (can't find a better name) are unintentional. If you compressed a jpg, the "blur" - if any - would be relatively uniform around the same colors. These "zeros", as well-pronounced as they are, are there for a reason.

Also, the colors that they chose are strikingly (is that even a word?) aquatic - perhaps the thing is trying to say "Aquapolis is also in little-boxes"?

I've come up with the theory that the also. pic was meant to convey beth's pw on littleboxes

there are basically little boxes on the word

so also or also. was probably her pw, although when the game restarts...who knows?

Those zeros do look surprisingly like "little-boxes," now that you mention it.

I tried 'also' for her password before it went down. I also tried 'stol,' 'lots,' even 'stole.' Skeleton, keen, ken, knee - this goes with my theory that the image behind the little girl is a "skeleton," and if you paint over skeleton with the letters that the little girl sees... you come up with 'keen' (or 'ken,' if that fifth letter 'e'is also highlighted).

Of course, I'll try again when it comes up again....

BTW, what's a DND reporter? Embarassed

I tried to keep going through the thread, to see if anyone else responded to this, but i'm exhausted and there's a million more posts... so if I deserve a trout, trout away...

DND I think (esp given the van Rijk (or whatever) name), the Dutch News Digest, found here:

http://www.dnd.nl/

Now, I think this is a legitamate news site for a legitamate news operation... she seems to site actual news organizations (the news group listed for the Congo Hail post is legitamate too), and actually incorporates stuff from our news that actually happened (the frogs eggs thing is real, as was the blackout)

ok, i'm going to bed... I'll try to catch up with the exponential growth in posts tomorrow.... or the day after...

Actually, going along with my idea that "also" is trying to tell us that "Aquapolis" is also on little-boxes, I think I might even know where it would be. Beth's archive #58 [EDIT #] is about backwards-swimming flash, uhh... I mean fish. It says "c. attachments". But there aren't any attachments to see. I'm sure everybody already knows that, but hold your trouts. Maybe "also" is a clue as to how to retrieve them, and we should try to look for them when her site is back up?

meeting place ?

phil wrote to beth re: it's all set up and reference to meeting place with them and 'others'

Could this ftp be the meeting place. ie the rollcall stamp suggests it is, and the clues sound to me like new characters in the matrix

statik, texel, etc

and they have posted that they are there.
perfect attendence :statik
texel is here ( taken from whats not on the googlism )

So then the guy from the stamp would be the first one there (though I understand there might be issues with this from the times of the file uploads?), Beth is "also" there, Texel is there, the guy that says "Whoa!" (probably Neo, lol) is there, and Statik completes the meeting with "perfect attendance"?
