I've made a flyer, but it's just got my phone number (stateside) and email address . It's not going to do any good to post them around Knoxville, Tennessee. That being the case, is anyone in the area going to post one?

Do you want a template?

We also need to mail a letter to the library. It will take 7-10 days from here, but less from other places. Anyone want to chime in to send it quicker so we may acquire a more prompt response? Or shall I send it at a snail's pace?

Well after all the negative stuff thats been flying around the last few days i'm surprised (and really chuffed) that there are still ppl willing to get involved and continue in the search. Good for u Smile

Thatdeaddude was good enough to go to the british library and have a bit of a snoop about. He checked the gate but alas there was no sign of the book or any teapots!!

security/lost and found produced nothing (yet)
Mountaingirl has suggested that perhaps there are ppl in the library who may be involved but need solid ID in the form of ingame references etc.

seems like a good idea to me but i'm starting to think along the lines of having to look somewhere completely different now. What r the chances of the book actually being in the library. Slim i think as result of TDDs visit.

I'd like to say a massive thankyou to TDD for all the leg work he's been putting into this. Without him we wouldn't have much of anything. Cheers Mate Smile

k i'm done

London is a really massive place, and don't loads of people work in the British Library? They can't all be 'involved', and we haven't been given any info on who might be...

I know it's a library and not an individual as such that we would be approaching - but I think we should lay off a bit now until (and if) we get clear confirmation that the people who work there really do know what we are talking about?

Yeah, I'm fairly sure the books not in the place. It's not a normal public library, where people have the time on their hands to help some random guy with his game. It's more an archive of old manuscripts, the sort that they're likely to make you wear gloves to read. Interesting place, but as far as our ideas seem to go, a dead end.

Special thanks must go to ThatDeadDude for giving up some more of his valuable time to make the trip to the British Library on our behalf, a journey which, as feared, proved fruitless. Personally, I am very glad that it wasn't necessary for him to make a very risky 25 ft. climb to the top row of A's on the gate. Rolling Eyes

If you look at the picture of this Gate:- http://www.publiclettering.org.uk/BritishLibrary.php
it seems ridiculous to assume that the British Library would allow their beautiful main entrance gate to be defaced by a book and an old teapot being stuck in it for four days, or that their staff would be permitted or have any interest in becoming involved in collusion for a "Time Travel Game", and I certainly cannot believe that they would entertain showing any security camera footage to random people for this purpose.

I think we have to assume that Book Zero, if it ever was there, has been disposed of - so where does this leave us with the Game? Judging from the lack of activity on the Triska site and in this Forum today, it would appear we are in limbo unless Iz/Toby takes some action.

Having read Toby's Statement, and Orchid's two Chats, they are filled with the usual psychobabble, instead of coherent direction, which is what this game now badly needs. We have now done what they asked and have checked the gate and inside the Library, and have phoned, emailed and spoken in person to the Security Department, and book Zero IS NOT THERE.

Suggestions about "putting up posters", "contacting newspapers and radio". "asking passers-by" etc. are simply bizarre and absurd. They seem to be regarding London as a little village in the country instead of the Capital of the U.K. and one of the biggest and busiest cities in the world; and the British Library as a local lending library where you might speak to the one resident librarian.

The British Library is the National Archive, housing 150 million items and attracts 16,000 users every day. The building itself is huge with 14 floors, was the largest public building constructed in the U.K. in the 20th Century, and has space for 1,200 people to read at once. [ I hope this helps players who don't know London too well, get a handle on the vastness and importance of the place where Toby foolishly left his book.] He might have been better persuading a local shopkeeper to hold it in safe custody until a designated person came to collect it. Idea

Orchid keeps referring to the negative attitude which has arisen, and this is not intended to add to it, - I am merely stating the facts as I see them. What THEY seem to be failing to grasp is that any negativity is simply disappointment and frustration at the present situation in the game.

Everyone started with tremendous enthusiasm, which would be continuing if last weekend had gone smoothly and we were getting somewhere. I feel that the fact that we are still here, urging and willing Iz/Toby/Orchid to get things moving, should be viewed POSITIVELY by them, as evidence of our commitment and eagerness to continue.

Without us they would have no game, and it is THEIR negativity in regarding our non-collection of Book Zero (virtually an impossible task, given the information provided) as a failure on our part, rather than a failure on theirs, which is now hindering progress.

The aspect of reading books/sharing books/changing the world etc. is all very laudable and commendable, but we could all be doing that anyway in our own time. We do not need to be following this site in order to achieve that; we are here to take part in what is described in the heading as a "Game" to find 13 Books, so I hope we can now be given some guidance as to how to get on with it. From Orkid today Oct. 20

HI! I just want to let you know that since I'm not allowed to post on this forum (for some reason they think I'm not real. LOL I wish they would tell my credit card companies that!) I'll be posting at this place and hope it helps!.
Here's the link:

http://www.immersionunlimited.com/viewtopic.php?t=2130

They're really sweet and laid back, so you can post anything you would have posted here. Maybe we'll even get some new Triskabiblites! And maybe if we start going over everything fresh we'll find we overlooked something.
I'm looking forward to discussing the game there with you!

Love,
x Orkid

Well, in my personal opinion, as far as the book being "lost" goes, orkid said she thinks someone "in the know" has found it, and her and toby both suggest posting flyers, i think that possibly it was done on purpose. Is someone merely trying to see if we'll actually do what it take s to play the game and keep it running? i don't think we need to flyer all of london, it would be pointless. who wants to put their phone number/email on flyers in that big of a radius? I liked the idea of putting up some near the library though, because both orkid and toby keep saying it may have been a passerby or someone who frequents the library. You guys can put my number on it for all I care, as the suspense is now killing me, and if I was in london, I would totally make a fool out of myself to find this book asking ppl because I have no sshame Wink i have to say a big thanks to TDD for going and trying to find it, it sucks that we're too late for it to be in plain sight. The nudges/clues seem to be in favor of flyers. Should we just put a few up? somebody had to have seen it, someone had to have taken it down. even if they call and say they threw it away, at least we know to stop looking, lol. I wonder if it wasn't all a test, because we seem to have been more than willing to do the clue deciphering and chatroom work, and we had a couple people kind enough to go where they thought drops were gonna be, but do you we got a little too close knit for a moment there? maybe we need to be broader with it, as we've started to be now. i dunno, I'm rambling due to RL stress, this is the first thing I've had to say all day that wasn't dealing with some sort of huge problem, and I need caffine or beer, and I have neither. so again, don't mind me. If the mods delete my rant, I will understand.

Not sure if this is the best place to put this, but hey Wink

I've started populating a TriskaWiki over at http://mikesroom.org/triska/ - we seem to have a lot of information sites, and I thought it could be useful to have somewhere to collate info. Everyone can edit the pages, so please do!

OK, I'm confused. Can can anyone say Analysis Paralysis?

We have too many forums. We are data rich and analysis poor at this point.

Do we choose one or open fifteen browsers? We'll be spending all of our time updating one or the other and have no time for the actual search.

Izlington's post at Immersion today is confusing as well. I'm not sure if I should take it as game over/start reality, or if it is a sign of hope.

Which rabbit hole do I go down now?

By the way, I don't even know if the rules permit us to post what Islington posts at the Immersion forum. (given it was set up primarily because this forum's rules did not allow for what is happening there) but here it is anyway. Flog me if you must:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The winds of Time blow sand over the tracks,
The Zero Book is silent, in the hands of an unknown friend,
We must work together to make this person know
What it is they hold.
An Artifact
Drawn by my hand
Subliminal secrets of Time and Space
The philosophy of Quantum Fluidity
A tiny step towards our goal
For Peace.

If a Game is to Change the World
The Real World must be Brought into the Game

People shrouded by limited perception
May wish for breadcrumb trail quick-fix solutions
But Reality is Open-ended
There is No Leader
The Kali-Yuga is Over
Welcome to The Future.

hmm the end of the kali yuga? seems thats a popular POV. According to wikipedia at the end of the kali-yuga the world as we know it will die and we will enter a new golden age or Satya Yuga and the earth will return to a state of paradise. Kali-Yuga means Iron Age or the age in which man discovers the use of iron. during this time mankind will degenerate further until its eventual rebirth(?)

Edit: also there have been some fascinating books written that incorporate hindu philosophies and others of that kind. There are several by Christoper Pike that are VERY good.

After reading Ix's post submitted by MG, I looked up Kali-Yuga (never heard of it before). I found this:

"According to the Hindu tradition of cosmology, we are now nearing the end of the Kali Yuga (the Age of Iron) which is the final and most negative of four evolutionary Yugic cycles."

Sounds like better days are upon us.

EDIT: Shylilembrace, you beat me to the punch Smile

Hear, Hear. I can barely keep up, any longer.

I think we should have one place for all the info, otherwise we seem to be spending our time transferring it around, or trying to read so many different threads, links, etc.

It is now getting really confusing.

Seriously? You would be willing to distribute your phone number and email to random people in London? Even if it was just near the library - there are still thousands and thousands of people there every day! So even though it isn't a big radius - its still a big number of strangers. Confused

If 'someone' not involved in this game (i.e. a passerby) took the book down - I really really think that the chances of them ever seeing a flyer, nevermind responding to one - are very slim indeed.

Unless an in-game person or player has the book - I doubt we would get it back. I think that if the PM's want us to find Book Zero - then that is becuase they have it and so they can enable us to 'find' it. Thus - I think it is dangerous to hand out personal phone numbers and probably not necessary.
