Your friends at the Historic Congressional Cemetery are about to take a little journey. But first, they need to pick up their marching orders and a special piece of equipment.
Tell them to locate my favorite brick vault in the whole cemetery, the one with a little iron fence and a tiny patch of blue berries growing out the top of the arch. The vault may be a little run down, but it still makes quite a first impression.
When your friends find the vault, they should investigate the northeast corner. In the gap between the bricks, I've left them a holster with special instructions inside. Once they have the holster, tell 'em to lean over the brick wall. They should spot an extra set of eyes I'm loaning them for the mission.
Be sure to stick around. If your friends aren't handy with American history, they might need your guidance.
At the very end of their journey, your friends are going to want your help finding the sweet spot. So when the time comes, let them know I've dealt 'em the bottom pair of Dead Man's Hand with a trey for the kicker.
Good luck. And hang on. If you friends get the favor right, we're all going on another journey together.

Legend holds that Wild Bill Hickok was shot to death during a poker game in Deadwood, South Dakota, and that the hand he held was two pair, black aces and black eights.
So pair of eights with a 3 kicker. 88.3

The journey has been started. The people in DC have found a pair of binoculars (the "extra eyes") along with the holster.

All of Lucky's test's pages are available here on Flickr. The quality is unfortunately but understandably slightly blurry.

CoffeeJedi reporting in!
currently i'm sitting at a poker table at Incyr and Silrn's house. At the table is Silrn, Cortana, Thunderclap8, Rowan, LouMac, Autumn, Incyr, Aliendial, and myself.
On the train back home, Krystyn called Thunder to tell him that Lucky was looking for him, and that he had a special date to remember. I beter write it down here as we've all been drinkering for a little while.
Sept 7, 1866
we think we've given you all the correct answers, Jane didn't say either way, but she seemed to accept our answers
Cortana and Lou won the Tombstone Tournament.
What else do you want to know?

How the hell I lost the poker tournament at INCyr's house?!? I got sucked out on three times! And not the good kind!
Seriously, though, I had such a fantastic time with all of the folks today. Thanks so much and I hope I see you all again real soon![/i]

Just a couple of pics.
Massive wet fun with everyone - great to meet everyone!
Regarding the radio broadcast - it played well enough for us to hear all of it the second time around, and I was recording it off an earbud but the quality is terrible. Here's what I can get:
...historic Washington Congressional Cemetery...congressmen already underground here. ... Now that you have the story of how I got the gun, we have to go back further. Let's find out who it killed before it ever made its way to Johnnie Whitecloud. And that means - Chicago. 1929.
Al Capone's ___, Al Capone's booze and a party that was never gonna end. So what if Al was in jail? So what if the stock market had just taken a punch in the stomach? And so what if the gun was [coming] to Union Station with a man's death already chambered inside? I'll show you some[one?] if you'll come take a look around.

re lost aviator "the first man to fly across the Atlantic ocean" mentioned rescuers COMBING Newfoundland FOR (POSSIBLY HERBERT EDMUND/EDWIN/EDWARD SOMETHING), but the music suddenly got louder and while we heard the name it was not familiar, I don't remember it, and I can't hear it at all on my recording
]"In other news, the search for the the first man to fly across the Atlantic ocean continues. rescuers are combing Newfoundland for Herbert Edmund (Edwin Edward?) [last name]". (Definitely three names.) [no not Lindbergh, he flew the other way]

I had bunches and bunches of fun.
Pictures are up here:

I ended up not posting much to Flickr with my phone during the event, because I was using it to relay back and forth with Krystyn instead. Most of what's posted there are from my 'real' camera.
Even with all the craziness at the cemetery, the best part was finally being able to put some faces and voices with names. Let's not wait for another ARG to do this again.
I also highly enjoyed getting a phone call from Krystyn while returning from the event on the Metro, saying "The dealer is looking for you!"
I also want to mention how cool this cemetery is. We met with the director before we started, and learned a bit about the place's history. It is also considered a public park, and in fact we ran into a lot of dog walkers while we were there. She also offered to sell us plots So really, they were very open and welcoming to us being there.
The only problem I had was a serious case of cold and wet feet. Even INCyr's waterproof boots leaked a bit. If you're going to a future event and its been raining recently, make your decisions accordingly.

Had an awesome time, of course. It was just great to see everyone. Though I'm certainly sore from all that wandering about.
As for stories, I'm not sure how much we ought to tell? I mean, perhaps we ought to be "gentle" on the guilty....

While the DC crew were getting squishy sneakers out in the rain, many of us were keeping warm and dry (and yet still a lovely shade of green) back at our computers in our various locales.
I present to you the IRC log of that afternoon.
I cut it right as the DC crew successfully waked Lucky, and we hit 1929 Chicago at the LCP website. If you're curious, those next several minutes had us freaking out at some of the uh, I guess you could call them hairstyles of the various female avatars. Tee hee.
