[POKER] New Discovery

In chat someone discovered that you can find any old chat just by knowing the number of the hand.

http://www.lastcallpoker.com:8080/PokerClient/lobby.aspx?handid=XXXXXX

the X's are the hand numbers

I am working on the wiki right now to fill in all the gaps here is a link to it so far.

http://deaddrop.us/lastcall/index.php/Character_Interaction

Whenever you post a chat make sure that these numbers are included in your post.

Thanks,
RPG

Do be aware, though, that gaps in numbers at one poker table do NOT mean that the person submitting transcripts has missed a hand.

There are other games going on that pick up the next sequential number.

The -best- way I have found, as a logger, is to check the upper right-hand portion of the screen. There are two hand numbers listed: the current hand, and the previous hand. As long as you keep track of those, you will know -immediately- if you're missing one.

Otherwise, going sequentially? You could end up watching dozens of hands from other tables, and that could get boring and frustrating quickly.

yep agreed i have most of the 2nd chat with the dealer put together now but yes as was said above keep track of those numbers each hand, it will make it easeir if there is a problem. If worse comes to worse take note of at least the last hand that way you can go back in time and check out the old hands sadly it doesnt work to find out what the next hand that will be played.

and if the number is # you found the end of the trail.

The only time when you need every number is in tournament mode.

How exactly is this new information? I was under the impression that this is the whole point of the recording system, isn't it?

I don't know -- I knew that each hand was numbered, but not how to get to them if I hadn't recorded them, so thanks, RPGgame! Smile

The recorded hands function only came to a forefront yesterday, when we were invited via greasythumb to revisit two of his conversations.

Until yesterday, we didn't know that revisiting hands like this was an option. From hereon, this could definitely help, instead of the hassle of copying the transcript, we can watch it ourselves.

So, Yes, this is new.

I concur. Smile

My warning was only to remind people that the er, sequentiality (is that a word?) of the hands is not restricted to one table -- the numbering takes place across all tables.

So, if for some reason a hand gets lost, trying to work sequentially between the two hands you do have may involve a serious amount of drudgery, plowing through hands from other tables.

That's all.

Except for the Tournament hands, you should be able to track back the hands at the table since the previous hand is listed with the current hand in the upper right hand corner. As long as you get the last hand at the table, you should be able to get the others ones (re: games with characters not during a tournament).

Now I get it...we are talking about different things.

@Chewy
I think you might have just missed that. A lot of people knew that you can record hands and watch them later on. You do NOT have to copy-paste during the game.

I think people just weren't clear about the fact that all the hands automatically are recorded and can be re-played at any time, if only you know the number of the hand.
Hands you recorded yourself are saved in a list, I think, and that was common knowledge.
Is that correct? Never did any recording of my own, just guessing on the last part, because of the confusion here.

For some reason, I thought this whole time that any hand can be re-played and that everybody knows about this - not knowing myself if my assumption is correct. Razz
I should have wondered about the fact that nobody ever posted a link to a recorded hand...crap. That could have saved you some serious time.

Yeah, but did you know how to generate a link to a recorded hand like we've seen in the 1929 cards before now?

Cos I always wondered about that, but I was too busy playing poker to try and find out. It's SO nice to know it can be done.

There is also a "Hand History" feature available. It's on the pop-up menu that appears after clicking the roll over "options" button, located by the dealer at the table. (What a silly sentence Rolling Eyes )
I'm not sure how it works, but it may come in handy... I just like to change the deck color. Smile
