[TROUT] If it's any relevence at all... (poem.txt)

I have translated the poem in Anne's files. It's probably been done before, and if it has.... My bad.

The skeleton ploughman
I

In the boards of anatomy
Who trail on these powdery quays
Where many cadaverous book
Sleeps like an antique mummy,

Drawings to which gravity
And knowledge of an old artist,
Although the subject is sad,
Communicated the Beauty,

One sees, which makes more complete
These mysterious horrors,
Digging like ploughmen,
Sectional views and Skeletons.

II

This ground that you excavate,
Resigned and funeral churls,
Of all the effort of your vertebrae,
Or of your stripped muscles,

Known as, which strange harvest,
Convicts torn off with the mass grave,
You draw, and of which farmer
Do you have to fill the barn?

You (of a too hard destiny want
Terrible and clear emblème!)
To show that in the pit even
The promised sleep is not sure;

That towards us Nothing is treacherous;
That all, even Death, lies us,
And that sempiternally,
Alas! perhaps we will need

In some unknown country
To skin the ground revêche
And to push a door digs
Under our bloody and naked foot?

And there it is. Maybe there is a specific reason why Anne likes this poem. I will probably be trouted for this one, but oh well. Some info needs reviewed.

edit: added trout tag & more descriptive subject - rowan

We actually have a link to 3 different translations from this post (which would have been found by searching for poem in the vaporlofts thread).

Well, at least Sykaara took the time to do it. You should check your attitude rowan72. I've been told about mine. So, you should watch yours.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see what kind of 'attitude' you're talking about.

All that Rowan did was point out that the poem had already been translated and then give a link to where it had been done.

I apologise if you like seeing the same information posted multiple times, but seriously, once it's translated/posted once, there's no need for another one.
Plus, the search button is there for a reason. As Rowan said, a simple search for 'poem' in the VaporLofts forum would have quickly yielded the translation. What's the point of having the tool if you're not going to use it?

Also, I think you should lay off criticising the moderators if you'd like to continue posting. Wink That's a sure way to get them mad at you. Rowan has been given mod power because she knows how the forum works, what the rules are and how to implement them. When she alters posts (and/or topic titles), it's well within her rights, it's actually part of the job description.
