Thanks SpaceBass.

Just to let you know that a new version of the app is now up.

The major changes are :

You can now edit the Owned value on the All Cards tab
The card details screen is now resizable (and hence so are the images on that screen)
The card details screen now has a link to view the card on perplexcitycardcatalog.com

... plus some other sundry stuff.

I've had a request for a Mac version. The two possible approaches to this are either the rewrite the app in Java (I'm *really* not sure I've got the time for that!) or port it using Mono. Has anyone had any experience with Mono - specifically porting an existing .NET application to it? Does anyone have any pointers for what I should be looking out for (or whether I should even attempt it!)?

cheers
B

The last I checked (admittedly, about 2-3 years ago), Mono was horribly immature. I was looking to use the Mono runtime stuff for Linux to run Labyrinth (the plot tool written in .net) and quickly discovered that none of the windowing/GUI classes were available at the time--meaning anything more than just a text console, file, database, or network would really run. You could do GUI stuff, you just had to use an alternate library for it (GTK, QT, etc.), not the standard Windows GUI and since Labyrinth was written for the Windows GUI toolkit, it did not work.

For compatibility, ease of writing, available knowledge base, and ease of maintenance, Java is probably the best way to go. If you have any questions or would like to farm out pieces of the app to other people, there are plenty here that know Java (myself included--although I am a bit rusty.) Drop me a private message and I will be happy to help you get started.

New version is up, with a fix for a bug with the 'current points total' calculation (some *very* creative maths was going on there!)

I'm officially working on a Java port, so will have a cross platform version out before too long

I've finally finished the java version of the card manager :

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=197364#197364

The two versions should be functionally equivalent.
Note that the java version will download card images from Bri's cardcatalog site ...

I'll be releasing the source code for both versions over the next few days...

I've just posted an update to fix (again) the points total calculation. Let's hope it's right this time!

Depending on which cards you've solved, you may notice that your points total as indicated by the card manager is 10 fewer than the leaderboard states. This is due to the points value being misprinted (and hence entered incorrectly) on card 120 - Cube Tube. Just edit the card, and replace the stated points value of 20 with the correct value of 30.

For simplicities sake, I'll stop updating this thread, and put all the future messages in the Java thread : http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12781
