I'd say this confirms the hackers-visiting theory. Or at the least, it confirms that texel refers to a person, not some 3D thingy.

That's true.. So, If this source is legit (Isn't there a way to test that? Where did it come from, originally?), the words mentioned must be handles. Not only that, but the handles of the group leaving us clues.

I'd say there is a high probability of the Caesar/texel appearance being authentic, since they pointed us to a previously undiscovered URL on the auqapolis site, and it's still there.

Theortically, a MAC user could have spotted that and decided to be a brainless twit, throwing us a false clue. But I believe you're right.. It does seem a strange thing to do. If it IS fake, we'll probably see a negation of it.. As we did with the fake voicemail at Littleboxes.

- BTW: The mention of Statik in the IRC context seems to confirm that it refers to the user who first discovered MetaCortechs.. After all, the messages are for us, the puzzle-solvers.

- Is it possible that there are only two persons in the group? We only have two people logged on: Caesar and Texel. Statik seems to be one of us. Maybe the ALSO.-pic is a clue, rather than a person? It could be, but it certainly doesn't fit in with the other theory which states that Statik is the last one to post on the FTP.

Further note: There must be a reason as to why some of the posts are in ASCII, and some of them are in Binary.. Texel, for instance didn't even bother to change the extension.. Why is that?

It has also been theorized that the grey areas of the mountain is a map, though it's a stretch.

Perhaps not. The flag the man is holding does resemble Arctica, albeit in a cartoonish way.

Given that the mountain may be Zion, "roll call" might refer to the 144,000 martyrs in Apocalypse, and perhaps 1 Cent/ Ascent is some reference to "rapture."

Although, the distorted globe, the man at the north brandishing Arctica, and "ascent" may reference Hollow Earth theory. Or I may just be in need of sleep.

I skimmed my IRC logs, as I was on the #matrix IRC channel (on irc.chat-solutions.org). I was asleep at the moment, but I had auto-logging on, so I can confirm the 'visit' of Caeser and Texel. If they are legit though, I cannot say... they came looking for one specific user, "Cloak_", and I'm not sure that is something the PM's would do...

See here for the complete log from the moment they came into the channel to the moment they left (it's a lot bigger then previously posted).

Giskard. Thanks for the logfile.

Caesar makes a timestamp in the logfile:

Quote:
[08:23] <Caesar> Oct 7 18:05:52 (bgp01388465bgs.brodwy01.nm.comcast.net[68.35.127.21])

This seems like a rather strange thing to do if it doesn't have a meaning.

We can fx use it to localize his geographic location, by comparting it to the timestamp in Giskards log.

Maybe he was referring to when Cloak_ visited (hack attempt, whatever) the server?

Ok, there is definetly a mountain or a pyramid in the background of the fire-blower image. Check out the attachment with higher brightness.

considering that the pic seems to be taken from a sort of stage show, the appearance of a pyramid in the background doesn't seem to be something unusual, which doesn't make it something that necessarily needs to be focused on

I'm more leaning towards mountain, based on the fact that they have used hard-to-see imagery before (the explorer icon on the second paintover image) and that there is a mountain on the stamp image on the FTP.

there, i freaking registered, i hope you admins are happy for getting me sucked into this

yeah, i was just saying, the pyramid doesn't seem like an anomaly in the pic, as the file folders and things did. None of the clue have required the elaborate techniques everyone is going through to understand them, they've all been naked eye visible.

There could be something to the mountain/ pyramid thing, i was just saying lets not obsess in trying to create a meaning for something that had to be brightened to be seen clearly and really makes sense in the pic anyway. I've noticed people tend to get a little carried away 'round here.

The angle seem to be a little funny for a pyramid, so a mountain or a 2D stage prop seems more like it to me.

We shouls also note that the fireeater is a girl.

Some random thoughts:

- Could the 'eruption' of fire + the mountain perhaps point into the direction of Vesuvius, the volcano near Naples that erupted in Caesar's time? I tried to find a good connection between the two, but failed up to now

- Isn't it odd that 5 files with about the most common extensions on the net get discovered, and then later, one with an extension that is pretty obscure. We (as we are still asuming?) have been pointed towards that as well... what does the extension in itself mean? Or does it have to do something with the word "Mac"? Could Mac be short for Marcus (Ormond) and is this pic a clue to his password on Metadex?

- Do the "Statik"-'postcard' and the 'First to the top' pictures have any real meaning, or are they just meant to congratulate the finders of the ftp login?

A lot of loose ends atm Sad

Well, even so, we cannot ignore that maybe some clues could be intentionaly shadowed. We cannot expect that everithing should be obvious at first sight.

But I agree a bit with you: isn't good to over-speculate in some subjects, but we have to try everithing at our hands...

Well, after you get the whole thing, things get clear:

On the Aquapolis index.html we have:
<META name="GENERATOR" content="MetaCortex MetaPage V1.0.4 for Mac">

Since that kind of extension is used in Mac systems, and the Aquapolis site was created in a Mac system too... things don't appear to be so strange or obscure...
