would say it's safe to assume that each "user" would be assigned an extension, so the people who know what to look for could just type in the proper extension to check to see who is there.

It would make sense, except for the fact that you can't really chat over FTP so why on earth would users want to meet on an FTP site? Unless they all kept uploading text files and downloading them it would make no sense to meet on an FTP site.

This is a crazy kinda find

OmniGraffle? has anybody ever used the program before?

It could be just gibberish, but on the Phillip's Paranormal Journal:

Quote:
The Secret (Weapons) of the Pharoahs
Johann Behforouz, Akbar al Esmallah

For millennia the Great Pyramid has stood as a silent sentinel overlooking the sands of Egypt. Long rumored to house a fatal curse that would befall anyone who violated its sacred interior, we have evidence that the builders of the pyramids incorporated some early forms of biological warfare to guarantee no grave robber would go unpunished. Employing various spores, molds and fungi that were thought to hold magical qualities, the pyramid builders have left us tantalizing clues contained in samples recovered by the robotic explorer recently sent into the pyramid's dark heart.

Actually you can chat on FTP...I use WarFTP and it has a chat function that I can use to chat with anyone connected to the FTP.

what breathes fire in greek mythology??

The Chimera.

Google wrote:
One of the children of Typhon and Echidna, Chimera was a hideous monster with the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a serpent. It had three heads and could breathe fire.

In the tale of Bellepheron, the Chimera terrorised the region of Lycia as each night it swept down upon the valley and carried off women, children, and livestock, leaving the bones of his many victims lay strewn along the mountainside. The Greek hero Bellepheron, seeking to destroy the beast, had to tame the magnificent winged horse Pegasus in order to get close to the nimble monster and avoid his flaming maw in order to drive a spear into his chest, its only weak point.

Giskard. Thanks for the logfile.

Caesar makes a timestamp in the logfile:

Quote:
[08:23] <Caesar> Oct 7 18:05:52 (bgp01388465bgs.brodwy01.nm.comcast.net[68.35.127.21])

This seems like a rather strange thing to do if it doesn't have a meaning.

We can fx use it to localize his geographic location, by comparting it to the timestamp in Giskards log.

Regards,

.cA

I had originally self-censored the IP address from my cut-n-paste. I did not think it added reliability, and potentially could show too much "behind the curtain" knowing that Caesar is on a cablemodem in New Mexico.

I am not sure how relevant it is (I do not remember the timestamps on the other files), but most web servers return a modified date for caching reasons. (Your browser sends a request like "the last version of this file I saw was from two days ago; send me the content again only if it has changed to conserve bandwidth"). Anyway, you can see the Last-Modified date in the HTTP headers:

Code:
[Fibonacci:/tmp] enigma% wget -q --http-user=cassius --http-passwd=urchin --save-headers -O - http://www.theaquapolis.com/urchin/carelessly.graffle | head -n 9

rename it to .swf so it can be played.

It looks like you inserted it here; can you attach so I could save?

Video

carelessly.mic = carelessly.swf

The pieces of text that show up on screen seem to be a conversation.

I guess the idea is these people are leaving clues for eachother to figure out places to go.

Transcript:
Piece 1: "Sorry i'm late, sorry i made you wait"
Piece 2: "Your clues where annoying what's with the ???? thing"
Piece 3: "I'm no ?poof? but you're know hacker"
Piece 4: "?Scratchity? scratch"

Holy cow, you're right! How did you guess that? What kind of file typically has the extension ".mic?"

It looks like you inserted too. Can you please take it out so that the music would stop playing?
