Easy enough to backdate entries.
I agree. Either this guys extremely gullible or he's part of it. I did a quick search in his comments, and there are none before 1st of September, 2005. There was one person claiming to have uncovered giant humans and been hushed up and the blogger didn't say a word about it (although he was responding to a post made in January, and he made his on the 13th of October so the blogger may have missed it). So I'm inclined to think that the person making the comment was a fan who made the post in bad taste, to play along or as a joke. Or it could be a clue (but he didn't really leave anything to investigate.

Actually I just noticed this scrolling at the bottom of the page:
Quote:
Dive the Deep SCUBA Burgos St., Tacloban City, Leyte, Philippines 61.(0)41.655.9032 EDSPLATDIVETHEDEEPSCUBA.COM.AU
Is that a valid Philippine phone number (I don't mean that particular phone number. But are philippine phone numbers structures like that?) I don't think it's a valid number because this random philippine website has the structure like this:
Quote:
(0632) 899-7450
So if it isn't a phone number. What is it?

Giantology (http://www.giantology.typepad.com/) has been updated, looks OOG still, the author is agreeing that its a hoax. (might just be a red herring though)
I'm not convinced. This is my first game (except for the tail end I caught of the Uru one) and it took this guy way too long to agree that the first video was a hoax. He might just be young, but I'd say it was decided when SO many people were calling it a hoax, to call the video a loss and move on. That if they tried to keep up with it being a real video, it would lessen the immersion factor (apologies if I've offended the blogger of giantology if he's reading this).

While the similarities in these photos with the creatures in "Shadow of the Colossus" is tantilizing I'd have to think that they are actualy differen't things.
The fact that this is about giant creatures, as is the playstation game, and that sony announced a viral marketing "game" starting in October through to December, I'd say this is it. Although on the other hand, it's taken until today for the game to get underway (with player interaction). Was Sony waiting for things to heat up? Or is this unrelated? If Sony's got another game about their Shadows of Collosus, then this would seem to be seperate. But otherwise, I'd say this is it Smile

Question.
They don't seriously expect us to mount an expedition to the Arctic, right?
No of course not. I'm sure he included the bit about "government approval" to stop us from thinking that's what he was asking Wink

They have have, basically, given us three things to put on our to-do list, if I have interpreted this correctly:

  1. Keep an eye on the site
  2. Go on a holiday cruise, hooray!
  3. Publisize the event
Arkady(Brian)'s e-mail suggests that they might possibly want us to get some of the other characters aquainted with Arkaday and possibly each other and see if they can't get an expedition running.

From what I know the definite characters are:
1) Ed the scuba guy, whose found an underwater giant creature
2) Casper Shilling, an excavator whose done work in Iran (with his own giant creature). He's dealt with difficulties with the government and spreading info. However his e-mail doesn't work.
3) Taurus website dude

Subject: Some information regarding Arkady Simkin
Hello there,

I'm part of a community that has taken quite an interest in this
discovery. In case you haven't been keeping up-to-date with Mr
Simkin's website, he had difficulties with his employer Polarneft
regarding the dissemination of the information about Taurus Major, to
such a degree that he is now no longer employed with them.

We sent him an e-mail asking if we could help him in any way, his
friend Brian replied to say that Arkady has been forced to go into
hiding. The e-mail address on his website isn't legitimate, but has
been changed by a hacker along with his login details. So
unfortunately Mr Simkin is no longer able to update his website. So
any changes that may appear on it, you should treat with skepticism.

Brian has requested that anyone willing to help can do so either by
spreading the word of what has happened to Mr Simkin, or even launch
an expedition to Franz Josef Land themself (working with the
government though). If you wish to reach Mr Simkin then you can do so
at arkadysimkinSPLATgmail.com

However I should let you know that people have been threatened who
were associated with Mr Simkin, so this might be something you wish to
distance yourself from. A couple of other finds, similar to Mr
Simkin's are:
* http://paleoshilling.nl/whatsnew.html
* http://www.divethedeepscuba.com.au/giant.html

While they don't have anything to do with Taurus Major directly, they
could be similar finds.

Thanks for your time
John Lynch
He invited people to send him e-mails about the Arkady thing, but I'm not expecting much. He might put up a small notice on his website, but I doubt much more will happen. But it might lead somewhere.

While Ed isn't directly connected with any of this, I sent him an e-mail to let him know, as he might be interested in this given his recent discovery

G'day Ed,

I recently found your website with your discovery. What an amazing
find for you. I bet that's helping business. You received lab results
that the statue is actually bone? You requested anyone able to offer
you insight or information e-mail you, while I don't know anything
about that sort of thing myself, someone named Arkady Simkin might.

He's recently discovered a gigantic frozen animal in Siberia. He's run
into some difficulty with his employers wanting to keep it secret, but
he's attempting to send a friend of his some samples to analyze. He
may be able to hook you up with someone who could tell you more about
your own discovery.

His e-mail address is arkadysimkinSPLATgmail.com

Best of luck
John Lynch

Everything else I've tried has led to a dead end, this probably will too. But it can't hurt to try. I'm looking forward to this myself.

Yes it is, well could be I mean. Never noticed how telephonenumbers are diferently structured for national and international use? Same here. drop the internatinal dailcode and voila.. similarity is here. missing 1 digit... maybe
0x41.655.9032
0632.899.7450

As to other input. We will see... or not.
Absence of proof is not proof of absence.

This is most certainly related to Shadow of The Colossus. Firstly, the Ice Giant. They named it "Taurus Major," which is actually the offical name of the Second Colossus in the game, which it bears a striking resemblence to. The others look like various Colossi in the game as well. Either this is a SotC ARG or a SotC Viral Marketing Campaign, or, of course, both. I'm gonna keep an eye on these sites, and this topic.

Oh, and if you have a PS2, I recomened getting this game. Not only is it amazing, but if this is a SotC ARG, you'll want the game to be fully effective.

Yes, I know there seems to be evidence linking this to Shadow of Collosus.

If it is, we are clearly in the TINAG (This Is Not A Game) realm from that email.

I think we're at a point where we've done everything we can. Sent more emails, watching the web sites, etc...

It's the other side's move for giving more information / interaction.

Remember, debunking an ARG can be fun, but following along and interacting like it's real is just as fun.

Interesting indeed.

Seems to be pretty well funded if they can afford helicopters and things of that nature. I'll watch this one.

Out of curiousity I typed these numbers into Mapquest's LAT/LONG map feature, and came up with something strange.

Go to mapquest's mapsite. Type in the following for the Latitude coordinates Latitude: 61° 04 Min. 16 Sec and the following for the Longitude coordinates Longitude: 55° 90 Min. 32 Sec.. Then hit the get map button. I was routed to a location somewhere in Russia. Interesting...

I then copied the link info for the map so I could post it here for all to follow. But when I followed the link, mapquest now shows the coordinates somewhere in Kansas. Here try it yourself. Link to Mapquest Map
Is this just a hiccup in Mapquest's program, am I confused, or is this somthing else.... Shocked

A bug, there is no such thing as 90 minutes when you're dealing with degrees of latitude and longitude since there's 60 seconds in one minute, and 60 minutes in 1 degree.here's the same location with google maps

Totaly oog.... I hope. Spooks me a bit

Just looked at the Official Shadowot Colossus site....Darn now I'm spooked.. I made a cgi some year or two ago...07-11-2003 to be exact I made this from a dream I had.... looks like i was not the only one with that dream.

Not the originalfile as it was a sketch made in bryce.

btw.... not so spooked as to notice the logo and the giant in the philipine movie share the same 'layout'. will put them next to one another in my next post.
