OK, Kurt, being the star that he is (but don't tell him I said so or he might get ideas) has fetched up some more information from several apparently blank pages. It's still not the clearest, but I've copied down what he's shown me and the file is here. Lencival, the incredibly incompetent author of this terrible book, has decided that all the organisations he's listed here are actually Cube worshippers (I happen to know that the Tarsians, at least, worshipped a sea god and that most historians believe that their symbol is a stylised representation of waves, but whatever). Anyway, he devotes a page each to large figures of the symbols of each of these groups. Personally I think he's just trying to pad out the page numbers. Apparently, Kurt thinks that the next couple of pages - and we're getting close to the end of these water-logged pages - are potted histories of each of these groups, so when we get to those I'll post them up here.

Those are some crazy logos!!
MAJOR SPEC!!
What if one of the other organisations is posing as 3P so that the blame falls on them for the theft??? I know that's what I'd do...
The only thing we really have that's leading us to believe it's 3P is the logo, and the term 'Third Power' dotted everywhere...doesn't necessarily mean it's all down to 3P....
END OF SPEC

In order of Violet's list:
Aquarius
Pisces ?
Capricornus
Gemini
???
Taurus
Scorpio

I love photoshop...and these look like they have many similarities to planet symbols (jupiter, neptune, etc).
anyway, transcription:
Tarsians
Archers of the Dawn
Fire of the South
Quadrilists
Third Power
Kababah Clan
Society of Elders
And for all we know, these are *all* the Third Power. Just in different forms.

Would it really make much of a difference if it was some other organization posing as the Third Power? It's not like we're going to say, "Holy crap! The Archers of the Dawn (who's symbol I love, by the way) have duped us again! We'll have to completely change the way we're investigating them, since all we knew about this organization in the first place was their name and the fact that they're shadowy. We should send the Third Power an apology letter since we've been wrongly accusing their now extinct cult."
We're going to follow their trail the same as before. And if it turns out they are called something else, we'll just shrug our shoulders and keep following them.

Or, perhaps they all peacefully worshipped the Cube in their own ways until the 3P went bonkers and killed everyone who didn't join them.

Co-incidence that these are the very things selectively damaged by water?? I think not....the big question is why?
Maybe all linked in cube worship, and were all necessary to activate it, if symbols not known except by the destroyers who could stop them?[SPEC].
Society has always distrusted those who hide in the shadows....even the ones proven to have had a reason to!!

Interesting idea Step. But wouldn't the symbols be of the zodiac of their world?

1st thing that jumped to mind here, runes.
not necessarily that they just mean the symbol for a cult but in the distant past it could mean a phrase, number or something. like how norse runes changed from ideas to single letters.

That's sort of what I was thinking. I have this book (at home, sorry) that has the Tolkein alphabet of Tengwar written out in it in this format:
[Symbol] - [Elven Name] [Translation]
Perhaps the perplex city alphabets of the past just had some... creative naming styles? It's a possability, though I wouldn't give it much of one. I think that Violet, of all people, would recognize dead alphabets, what with the whole "librarian" thing going on for her. =P

The Cube and water (besides the interaction warning), from Violet:
Quote:
Apparently today, second Friday before midsummer, is some minor festival - the Celebration of Water, which meant that their usual prayer schedule was off...//...Kurt, because he is a true friend and ally, kneels down in the mud, looks toward the temple and says: "Gyvann is calling me to worship in his holy name! I must attend the Celebration of Water! The water is the holy light of the Cube!" Brother Hans is absolutely delighted with this turn of events, of course, and hurries Kurt off to the temple to participate in the water-pouring ritual...//...All I had to do then was wait another three hours until the ceremony of water immersion and water meditation was over so that I could retrieve Kurt.
(Thinking more, now, seems as if the Recons are perhaps the descendants of the Archers of Dawn, at least..)

I did some searching for the Tarsians and came up with stuff about some Japanese Manga looking film called 'Voices of a distant Star' and there's something about it in 'The Brotherhood of Six' website. Mainly stuff about them being an Alien race and probably were in Star Trek or from Xen.

Perhaps bit of a stretch but I just noticed today that the logo for PCBC is extremely similar to the 3P symbol. Interesting....
see it here
