[META] [NYC] Live Event Coordination The NYC event is coming up! I'm debating the possibility of coming down from Boston. Anyone else coming down from up here? My personal issue is that I have to be back in Boston the same night, so I may end up having to take the train. But worth trying to work out a carpool.

Not from Boston, but considering heading up there. The price for a flight dropped over $150 in the last two days?! damn me for telling myself "well, if only it was $xxx, I could probably manage that". However hotel is putting me just over that xxx mark. Would love to know if anyone else was going to be looking into hotels fri & sat night and interested in splitting the costs.

Whooo! I'm totally going, along with boyfriend, who apparently is no longer capable of being surprised by comments like "hold on, I just gotta finish the game with this dead guy" or "hey, let's go play poker with tombstones!"

Event information For people planning to attend NY - and that better be everyone who can- i hear that staying in Brooklyn or Queens would work well. No need to stay in Manhattan just for the event. So you can stay in another borough and save money if that helps! Or come to Manhattan anyway!
See you here. We will have parties before, after and probably, during, the event.

I have another comittment on the 5th, but I may be able to get out of it. If the hours of the event work out right, I was planning on taking the commuter rail down to Boston Friday night, staying with family there, and taking Fung Wah bus in the morning from South Station ($15 each way). However, it wouldn't arrive in NY until 11am.
EDIT Well, I got out of the first comittment, but a second one popped up, so I won't be able to make it.

The sooner attendees get contact information to me, the better. If you plan on going and want an online contact, make sure to pm me as soon as possible.

So, I was on Priceline playing around w/stuff for LA and decided to just see what happened when I put in an absolutely absurd price on airfare for NY and, well, it looks like I'm now heading to NY as well.
The problem is... it looks like it's gonna be a bit too chilly to crash on a park bench. Anyone want to share a hotel room?

I'm gonna try to make it to the NYC event.
Plus it won't be much of a trek for me since i live in NYC.
So, anyone want to team up with a local?

NYC EVENT INFORMATION -
I am trying to track down the best way to get there, etc.
Right now the cemetery isn't answering the phone lines and, as today is my birthday (On Sat help me find stones with October 30 on them!), I have fun stuff to do that will keep me from following up further until tomorrow.
Cypress Hills Cemetery phone number:
718-235-6289
Mike's pub doesn't have a listed phone number but
I did find two payphone numbers for Mike's pub -
718 296-9682 MIKE'S PUB 79-19 JAMAICA AV
718 296-9683 MIKE'S PUB 79-19 JAMAICA AV
I called and spoke to a very nice man who had a lovely Irish accent and was very concerned that we get right directions.
He suggests the easiest way to get there may be to take the E or the F all the way to Jamaica and then come back on the J train to Forrest Parkway.
This seems very inefficient to me, and I think he only suggested that way because he thought i would be less likely to get lost and because the E and the F are better trains than the J.
I need bagsbee or joebrent or both, who know the letter trains better than i do, to help figure this out.
-----
As it is a bit of a trek to get out there, do we want to meet up as a group first and go together? I would like to do that. We may need to leave fairly early.
I was wondering if after we could go to the Korean Barbeque place which I missed doing with Creative Embassy as it wasn't near any place we were.
This will be fun. I can't wait!!!

Yeah, um... this is embarrassing. I've lived near NYC all my life, but... I have no idea where anything is. Anyone else going to the cemetery from Port Authority?

I'm PROBABLY going to go with my dad...I think he's going to take me. If the pub is 21+, then I won't go to that party...because I can't. ^.^ So, hopefully I'll see you guys there.

I'm with you, brother. I know my way around Manhattan fairly well, but Brooklyn is a pickle of a very different shade. Plus I'm a subway amateur at best.
Anyway, I too will be coming in via Port Authority (go NJ Transit!). Rose and I have been discussing meeting up somewhere in the Midtown area to head out as a group. Join us.
Also: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSE!!!
