[MAIL] Package from Vapor Loftspace

Received a package at my door today with Vapor's return address and the number 3 marked on it. Included was an orange t-shirt with the Vapor Loftspace banner with the four hub locations underneath it. Also included were two slips of paper that are apparently are currency of sorts.

The larger of the two is a bill for 500 (five hundred what, I don't know), and is issued by The Sky and Earth Corporation Limited. It is red in hue and littered with kanji; its design is such that I assume it is Chinese, and the serial number reads SH-98500B. The other is smaller, light green in color, and is for 5000 Dollars. It reads "Hell Bank Note" across the top of the front and back, is signed by Yin Low and Yuk Wong, and has a serial number reading No. 168168. It two is littered with Kanji, but more resembles an American Dollar in design.

I will have photos up as soon as it is physically possible.

Hell notes are used as part of Chinese New Year celebrations, as ancestor worship. It's sort of a prosperity/wealth wish for those who have passed through this life to the next - there are not only pieces of money, but household items and other objects made out of joss paper. (Even stuff like TVs! cars! dishes!)

These are burned at the (Chinese) New Year, a way to send presents to loved ones.

FWIW: there's a LOT of different styles of Hell money, but I've always seen the rather plain green stuff. If you Google, you can find some really awesome notes in full color, and the ones that originate in Asia tend to be more ornate and have more symbolic imagery/text on them.

Alright, here we go:

This is the box that arrived at my doorstep this afternoon. Note the large 3 written on it; I'm wondering if this is one of several packages sent out by Vapor.

Inside the box was an orange adult medium-sized shirt with the VL banner across its chest, as well as the locations in the original GPS post at point_system's livejournal.

Also included were two Chinese bills, both featuring images of the Jade Emperor:

After looking around I'm fairly sure that the red bill is a Hell Bank Note as well.

Interesting to note, it's considered a horrible insult to receive Hell Money as a gift while one is living. Perhaps Vapor Loftspace doesn't much like me Smile

What have you done, Jinx?? Shocked Laughing

Regarding Hell Money:
I remember it from an X-Files episode. Wink

Chinese...that doesn't fit in with the 4 big nodes. Another support node? Or not related to any VL branches at all.

Was there any postage, or delivery service markings? If not, do you live near Atlanta? Had you sent them your address?

lmao, great question. I'm pretty sure that of all the people following this game I've been the least productive or active. I'm not sure how China plays in; my guess is that it's the principle of the after life that's the point of the Hell Money being included in the package.

I live in Boise, ID, and I'm almost entirely sure I didn't send them my address. I did, however, add point_system to my friendlist on livejournal, and I have a friends only post months back including my mailing address. That seems to me the most likely explanation for getting this little bundle. I know that I gave them my phone number on their voicemail, and none of the emails in my sent box have information pertaining to my home address.

Of course, I could be off my rocker; I've been known to forget things here and there. Wink

I want one of them shirts. I wonder if they'll send me one if I e-mail them. Smile
