Dev,

I made the mistake of telling mom that William, the guy I'm staying
with, was kidnapped from his car. Dad came on the phone and told me he'd
call Jerry and not to worry about cost. And let me tell you, that was
the weirdest phone call of a day of weird phone calls.

Last night Seth brought Cara over to William's place and I got to be
Auntie Lucy. Seth wanted to know why I moved in with William instead of
coming to stay with them. Cara put her finger up my nose, which gave
me time to think of a reply better than 'You married Ms. Stepford's
Wife, you dork.' Cara is fabulous. I intend to corrupt her. Seth gave me
a hug. Dev, I swear, I feel as if I had a terminal disease and nobody
has told me yet.

I'm so glad you're in Antarctica and can't do the whole
brother-to-the-rescue thing. The truth is, I don't deserve all this rescuing. I
mean, Gamblers Anon would say I never did. But nothing would have happened
to William if it wasn't for me. Face it: I'm aces and eights, bro.
I'm going to have to do something about that, and about William-rescue
someone else instead of being rescued.

I'm glad you're out there in penguinland.
