His patronage of lost or impossible causes traditionally derives from confusion by many early Christians between Jude and Judas; not understanding the difference between the names, they never prayed for Jude's help, and devotion to him became something of a lost cause.

First time ARG was a huge Lurker for ILB and solved a lot of stuff but just never posted it, afraid of being called dumb mainly if I was wrong. Anyways I think it's safe to speculate that possibly the "Thank you" for St. Jude is just an ironic statement.

My First ARG! I'm so excited <grin>

Anyway, pick up any Penny Pincher (or other local "free" classified paper and read through it. THere will be several classified entries for St Jude. Generally, there is at least a "prayer" classified and/or a "thank you" post.
