Is the "Papel picado" (perforated paper) a puzzle? Who would it have come from to blow onto Lucy's limo?

Where did the blueprints come from?

The blueprints on Hearst's page, for the Grande Hotel at 5441 Graham, match the address on the arrest warranty that Harry Nakagawa swore out for Matt Viet a while back.

I believe Papel picado just means Paper Cutout.

They are popular during the mexican holiday of Day of the Dead. Which is Nov 1st and 2nd.

Oh, of course. For some reason I thought that those were for the four deuces or something. How could I have been so dumb?

Todays 1914 update doesn't quite make total sense when you try to put it in order. Here is my attempt. It gets mixed up as to whom shot whom. And, by the way, William Hearst lived well past 1914. Phoebe is his mother (who passed away in 1919 after an illustrious career as a UC Regent).

I was in a meeting for a while... nuts!

I think i'm caught up. So someone apparently talked Matt out of the building using the blueprints?

AWESOME!

It's my understanding that William Randolph Hearst isn't dead yet in the story, he was just pistol whipped.

Otherwise, why would Ambrose Bierce go to NY and peddle the Manuscript to ruin him.

I don't know, maybe I'm completely lost too. Smile

Actually, Ambrose Bierce (padreinferno) disappeared in our current time warp while trying to join Pancho Villa.

His affair with WRH's mother Phoebe makes no sense.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Everything that happened in the movie on Ambrose Bierce's page is a fantasy. In reality, Hearst did shoot him, and he is dead.

New updates for Villa, Damon, and Rosita.

Sorry to not be updating while it was happening, but I was also trying to work... Smile

I talked to Roger several times.

The first time, I got the answering machine. I left a message briefly explaining who Matt was and what he had done. I also mentioned that there might be a problem with a Federal Marshal and that Matt might need protective custody.

I called back and got to talk to Roger, a very sweet, very flustered guy who did not enjoy doing desk work. I started out, because I am nasty that way, by telling him that a site called www.lastcallpoker.com had been hacked and completely repurposed by an individual calling himself "Lionel Brown," and that the site administrators seemed somewhat disturbed by it.

There was a pause.

Roger thanked me politely and then told me that he would have to go because he was getting calls about a burning building. I described what I knew about Matt, and warned him that Matt might be in danger. Roger got very upset and said that he knew there were all sorts of crooked cops in movies and on TV, but that they really weren't like that. And he hung up on me.

After catching up in chat, and since no one else appeared to be doing it at the time, I called him back and told him that Matt appeared to be in the burning building. Roger was very upset and a bit hyper and started telling me about how he'd always done very well in marathons and on the physical part of law enforcement, but now he was stuck here behind a desk and there were burning buildings and this was really not his thing. But he said that someone had told him that Matt was not in the building.

I said, "oh, okay then," and hung up.

Later, we found out that Matt was in the building. I called back and told him that there was an FBI agent named Ben Rojas that could protect Matt on the off-chance that he was in danger from a Federal Marshal. I also tried to give him Tony Viet's cell number.

Roger, sounding very worn out and depressed, told me that it appeared to be too late for Matt, and that "unless someone could figure out a way to get Matt out of the building..." he wouldn't be needing the phone anyway.

After that, others seemed to have it under control, so I didn't call back.

Most fun I've had since the game started. Nothing beats phone interactions. Smile

Okay, I'm not sure, but Bierce is PadreInferno, yes? SO there is an illusion (dream, maybe) where PadreInferno gets the girl, but really he is killed. PanchoVilla was in a Monster 3, and I got to talk to him (Course, he didn't say in spanish mostly, so I didn't feel useful) but once he found out Bierce was dead, he left real quick, and you get the card on Pachovilla's page.

Matt was talked out by the blueprints, by us, with Rojas on the phone. He meets up with rojas outside Preacher's convini. Rojas gets popped by one of Matt's men (lojack) just after Matt comes to the conclusion he wants out of the gang. So matt hooks up with Lucy to get out William. And there we are.

So I think.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Bierce's hallucination as he died is a very nice reference to his story An Occurrence at Owl Creek, wherein a hanged man lives a whole experience of escaping and returning to his family as the rope breaks, all within the moment his neck snaps in reality. It was made into a twilight zone episode.

It can be read in its entirely here:
http://eserver.org/fiction/occurrence-at-owl-creek.html

One of the few stories I remember from high school English.
