[SPEC] Lojack

Getting in one last spec before tomorrow's anticipated insanity...

Soooo... Do we pretty much think that Lojack's working for Don now? Even, perhaps, that he was always Mi Casa's inside man at ESC? That the sudden appearance of the employee from the convenience store is the only reason that Lojack didn't try to get Matt to come with him (back to Don) right then?

Or do we think that Lojack's fortuitous absence during the deadly S.W.A.T. assault, and his subsequent unprompted murder of the only (apparently) clean law enforcement official we've met so far, were just coincidences?

MOSTLY UNRELATED ASIDE: On November 2, 2005, after the fire, Lojack shoots Rojas as he sits with Matt. A day earlier, on November 1, 2005, Matt tells Lucy that "the last person I sat down with got shot." The story is very specific about this particular meeting taking place on November 1 and no later: after Lucy's meeting with Matt, she drove over to Olvera Street, where "they were getting ready for the Dia de los Muertos."

So, since the fire hadn't yet happened, and Rojas was still alive: Who was the last person that Matt sat down with before Rojas, do you think? Sam?

Hmm, it's certainly a possibility.

More interesting is this other bit of info:

Especially considering this tidbit:

Was the smoke smell from cigarettes or the fire or a continuity error?

I think that you called it. Lojack has not been around, wasn't in the building, then shows up at just the right moment to kill Rojas. Great spec!

I hate to say it, but based on when they were released to us, I am betting on continuity error and the "smoke" that Lucy smelled was from the fire. There are a lot more of us checking the continuity than Lucky has to help him get things straight before he hands them over to us.

I can't think who the killed person would have been. It seems like Matt would have eaten with someone well after Sam was killed.

Then again, maybe that is what we were supposed to think?

Matt smoked cigarettes. Clay gave him one, Matt could have gotten others. As someone who doesn't smoke, I can tell when restaurants haven't changed their decor since the smoking ban went into effect. There is a smell of stale tar and smoke that just never leaves the fabric, wall paneling, curtains. It can cling to people too, and if Matt smoked more when he got nervous, the smell would be stronger.

How about Johnny Deuces? Corazon/Pedro's update for October 28, A House on Fire pretty much is Kerry telling her that Don will kill Johnny to get the pawn ticket.

People Matt may have sat down with - Reuben, Johnny, anyone involved in the turf war. We know that in the beginning (of the game) there was a lot of talk about a killer on the loose taking out gang members. Mi Casa moving in on ESC corners. Nothing in the phrasing states that Matt was present for the shooting. Matt knows the Big Hat wants the gun. He gives it to Clay to hide for that very reason. I think if Ben had been shot before Matt talked to Lucy, he would have been a lot shakier, and a flight risk. Note that Lojack had just gotten back in to town from a "Funeral" maybe Lojack was the one Matt thought had been shot?

"Hold on," Clay said.

The manager smoked and Clay hooked the lighter off of his desk and brought it back out. He lit the kid a cigarette.

The kid took a puff. Did not cough, although he held the cigarette like someone trying very hard to look like he smoked.

It's not impossible, but don't be so sure that Matt smoked.

I still think it's an axon in the ocean.
