Naming a Moon "Durga"

So about a week ago, scientists discovered two more moons orbiting Pluto:

Now, names for these rocks have yet to be determined, pending a further study in February to confirm their lunar status. Once this is done, however, their discoverer, Hal Weaver, gets to pick names for them and send it along to the IAU to have the names officially confirmed.

This is, naturally, where my idea comes in. I suggest we throw out a campaign to have one of them named Durga, partially after the demon-slaying Hindu goddess, but chiefly after our beloved Op, who has formed friendships and bonds that will a long time. And it seems only fitting that she's a Halo-universe character, no less.

Now, I'm not entirely sure how to go about this. We could start up a petition, and send it alongside a letter to the man's email, or even in printed form to the Lab he works at. We'd have to get it there before that second study is completed and sends out names, however.

I realize that it's no guaruntee that this would work. I'm sure he has some ideas of his own. But I would say it's definitely worth a shot.

I don't know that we still have the readership to make a huhe impact like we'd like to. But I am of the same notion. Durga would be a great name for our newly found moon. Smile

If you do this definitely alert the good people at halo.bungie.org. I bet they'd help, even if just by posting a link to a petition.
