[Recruitment] Beginners ARG

To all who have responded to this post I thank you. I'm sorry that I could not include everyone this time around.

Please look for future posts concerning ARGs for those who want to become PuppetMasters but don't yet have the experience they believe that they need.

It is through learning our faults that we find our successes.

so...

So is this like a sort of walkthrough guide? I'm at the beginning of being a beginner, so I'm clueless. I think this could really help.

Welcome!

If you're asking whether this is a walkthrough for players, I think the answer is no.

This forum is for people who are making games (known around here as "puppetmasters" or PMs) to recruit others to help, and this thread in particular is for recruiting people who want to be PMs, but have never done it before.

So if you want to make a game, then yes, you're in the right place. If you are just beginning to play and are looking for more information, you might find better help somewhere else.

Most ARGs have their own guides while they're running, put together by the community. Sometimes the PMs provide their own official guide, as well.

Imbri has created an ARG Quickstart Guide as well, which is probably the closest thing there is to a general walkthrough on how to play an ARG. Every ARG is different, though.

But in general, the best way to learn how to play an ARG is just to pick one and start playing. The community is very helpful, and if you have questions, people will be happy to help you. I think pretty much everyone here started out by just playing an ARG. It may seem sort of confusing at first, since it's different from most other types of online gaming, but you'll get acclimated quickly, and as I mentioned, people are very willing to answer questions and help.
