Some new puzzles that mess with your mind!

Puzzle 1: Find the F's
First Read the following sentence:

Now reread the sentence above and count the F's (the actual letter F). Count them only once! Dont go back and count them again!
How many did you count?

Here's the answer:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

There are 6!!!
Almost everyone guesses three. Why? It seems that the brain cannot correctly process the word "OF". The letter F usually makes the "f" sound, like in "fox". However, in the word "of", it makes a "v" sound. Somehow, your brain overlooks the word "of" as it scans for the sound of "f".

Puzzle 2: Mental Arithmetic
Perform the calculation below as fast as you can, and using only mental arithmetic (so without pen and paper, or a calculator!). What is the result?

Quote:

Take 1000 and add 40.
Add 1000.
Add 30 and then add 1000.
Add 20.
Add 1000 and then add 10

Here's the answer:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Most people get 5000 as result, if they perform the calculation as fast as they can. But the answer is 4100. Because of the hurry, the tens and the hundreds are mixed up in the last step (4090 plus 10).

I got them both right. Then again, I was going slowly because I was looking for a trick.
