The poem on the tombstone in the last pic is an excerpt from "The Bivouac of the Dead" by Theodore O'Hara. Apparently, it is/was used quite frequently on gravestones for Confederate soldiers. Arlington National cemetery had a page about it, complete with full text and some history about the poem.

Can anyone determine what the music score inscribed in the same tombstone is? Maybe the title or composer?

I believe it's "TAPS".

http://sniff.numachi.com/~rickheit/dtrad/pages/tiGSTAPS;ttTAPS.html

On an odd note... "TAPS" is also short of "The Atlantic Paranormal Society", the group featured in the Sci-Fi channels "Ghost Hunters". Completely OOG, but interesting none the less.

Oldskool pics. Most were scanned in as far as I can tell. But some appear to be digitally taken. fi: "Nihil sine Deo" 11.jpg.

Is it just a typo... or does 'end' instead of 'went' mean something?

I suspect that it's a typo, considering the accidental inclusion of "m" in eternal at the end of the page.

I was taking another look at the photos and have a couple of questions. First, what the hell is that pile of debris in the third pic? I doubt that it's a gravesite considering how trashy it is in comparison to the rest of the graveyard. Second, since 11.jpg is apparently the only digital one & it's the only one with Layla making an appearance in it, I presume that there's something special about the pic. I've tried uncamouflaging it, but have had no luck.

Finally, I was taking another look at the last pic and noticed that it's dated 1861-1865. So let us pause a moment and sorrow for the child.

ETA: The bible verse on the "nihil sine deo" gravemarker is 1 Corinthians 15:57 : "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

It is not a grave but a memorial. 1861-1865 is the US civil war so it is a memorial to fallen soldiers i guess.

Cutdown tree that sprouted again.

As far as I can tell: 11.jpg and 15.jpg are digitally taken pics. (in other words, probably taken by "you know who". The others scanned and likely not taken by "YKW".)

If somebody was wondering if the "Nihil Sine Deo" was photoshopped in (I was) I doubt it. If so somebody went "above and beyond". Even the perspective is flawless (and thats the hardest to get right. Still is has a unnatural feel to it.

looking at the pictures it seems that there are some "older" and scanned ones and some digital ones. Further more there are some pictures that can be grouped:

18.jpg is the text on the plate of the statue in 15.jpg (or so it seems)
9.jpg contains the same lake as in 14.jpg
13.jpg is the same path as 12.jpg

14.jpg, 13.jpg 16.jpg are at least taken on the same day, according to the moody drooly scenery.

will look at the picture more tomorrow..

Greetz,

Draghkar

If you look closely most of them have these although not as bright as this. Seen many times on scanned 'oldskool'-pics.

But as this is an ARG... probably some code behind this. Constellation, gridcode, 'connect the dots'-code. Dunno yet.

Great observation hyperborea,

I see more of those dots in that picture... but i see some on the other pictures as well..

However,

In 1.jpg, there is a grave with the inscription "my mother"

Enlarging this picture shows a lil bit of an edge, just like it has been photoshopped or so.

Can anyone confirm?

And another question:

Quote:
I mentioned a couple of days ago that James and I end to the local cemetery (Mt. Hope) and took pictures. Here are the 17 best of them. Yes, this page loads slowly.

Why would Layla say that she posts 17 pictures while there are 18 of them posted?? Typo? or a hint? Is there maybe one of them that she didnt take herself?

was just wondering..

Did some research on the mt hope cemetery in rochester and found some kewl things:

a picture gallery
several essays and reports on people buried there especially researching the headstones and grave markers.
online exhibition
more grave descriptions

The pond that is in the pictures is probably called the "bank of lilly pond"

Greetz,

D.
