It's a VERY good thing that we're ahead of schedule.
Konamouse: as I said Caro before in private when I gave her my address, to be 100% sure that the hat makes it to LA in time I have to dispatch it no later than friday 11th in the morning. The dates you suggest (arriving the 12th and leaving the 13th) are impossible, being saturday and sunday - no courier here works on saturdays and sundays, not even DHL or TNT and such.
Plus, day 15 is a national holiday here in Brazil, so it won't count as a working day; this means that dispatching the hat on monday (day 14) would mean a very high risk of not meeting the LA deadline.
So, if we can be sure that the hat may really arrive here by at least thursday 10th (the day before being MUCH better), we can do it; otherwise (and I'm also a bit worried about the looong way between NZ and Brazil, it's really too easy to face a delay on such a long distance route), no matter how sad this would make me, I'd say we should play safe and ( sigh ) shorten the trip. We can't take the risk of getting to the main event without the Father Of All Hats.

That said, of course aI'm sure that all you fellow hat-bearers-to-be will be solicit and generous enough to speed up the journey, gain a couple of days and make me Victor very, very happy.

Ok quick hat fret...

Today is the third of November (2nd in LA time). I have had several quotes (DHL, FedEx, and NZ Courier Air Freight) telling me that the quickest it will get to Brazil from here is 4 days, and that's 4 days in the air - I can't tell what customs will do, or how long they might fluff around with it.

I think i'm going to have to relinquish my hat time, and suggest you send it directly to Nadif, or to someone perhaps closer to South America than myself.

To be 100% sure that nadif gets the hat by the morning of the 10th, I would have to send it by the afternoon of the 4th, so that it would definitely leave on the 5th, to arrive in Brazil on the 9th, to allow for pickup / delivery / customs crap so that nadif actually gets time to show the hat a good time.

Brazil's a bit more exotic than New Zealand anyway, and Nadif's probably got a better chance of getting it to LA on time than I have anyway.

If that's what we're gonna do, not knowing where the hat is right now or how the schedule is going, I'll await for further contact from Konamouse and/or Eshan to make the proper arrangements for the hat's travel. And once again, if for any reason you guys/girls think that sending the hat to NZ instead of Brazil is a better idea, I'll absolutely stick to your judgement.

Vic has finally made it to Auckland, New Zealand, and went for a short trip to the Sky Tower today:




Later on this afternoon I'll take him for a quick stop at the Sky City Casino, before a shopping trip around town, ending with a short trip to Ladies Bay for a full view of Rangitoto Island, one of our many extinct volcanoes. Then he'll come home with me for a couple of drinks and a good home cooked meal before I send him on his way tomorrow
