Sorry for all the commentary in advance:

Evidence for placing us in current time (b/w M2 and M3)

Thomas Anderson has been transferred
Evidence of the apocalypse (suggested by the Architect in M2 in "the destruction of the entire human race") in the 10 plagues -- granted that's not so firm
The created dates of the carelessly files and the reference to the blackout in August (though the satellite pic was doctored, other references to the blackout exist on USH sites)

I just got done sorting through all of this. So I'm nowhere near the crossword puzzle; as a matter of fact, I have questions just about every one of them except #7 (.graffle)

#6 says at the end of his stupid speech "pizza's here!!" and right then somebody shows up. That's Caesar. Little Caesar's pizza?

Oh, and I think that a big round of applause is in order for the bizrock *stands up and starts clapping*

Thought I was going to be able to follow the MetaCortechs game on my own. Fat chance (Had it until the FTP thing, which I figured out too late. When the servers kept kicking me off, I came here to get some clues. Never would have figured out these obscure extensions on my own).

So here's my summary. I feel that there are no real "clues" in these files except for the identities of each hacker. So here's my guesses at each hacker:

1. Caesar (JPG: Roll Call) Clue: First one, since he posted at paintover
2. clear (JPG: When the wind is...) Clue: "clear... here I am"
3. ???? (TXT: Nice spot...)
4. ???? (RTF: Mello, you got it yet?...)
5. Mello (TXT: Pizza's here...) Clue: Responds to the RTF post
6. ???? (JPG: Fire eater)
7. Lorenz (GIF: I can see you) Very uncertain about this one
8. Yo (WAV: OK, I'm in now) Uncertain about this one
9. Texel (TXT: Texel is...) Clue: "Texel is here"
10. ???? (JPG: Castle on fire)
11. beth (JPG: also.) Clue: Little boxes on the also. Why the period?
12. ???? (TXT: WHEN DO WE WEEP...)
13. ???? (HTML: crossword)
14. scratch (SWF: I'm no poet) Clue: Ends with "scritchety scratch"

Any guesses on the question marks? Or some corrections?

I believe we now wait until the 8pm PST on the 10th, and then something will be posted in this directory.

#3.
Why is he quoting Hamlet? Could he be Cassius? We logged in as him into Aquapolis' ftp, hence the continuation of the quote that he omitted "I know a hawk (= hack) from a handsaw".
That one is shaky, though.

#12 doesn't have to be Beth. It could be that deleted user (that posted the archive in Latin) on little-boxes.

could the . after also have anything to do w/ tavern'.'pointe ..? that was another seemingly-useless '.'

also, i know it doesnt make sense w/ the picture... but it seems Mello can watch the traffic/net... he refers to all the commotion on the server earlier (by the way what is he talking about? ).. and by that sees that the next user popped on 1 min after him ... 'pizzas here!!'

and, whereas i do congradulate Statik the forum poster, is it safe to 100% rule out that Statik is a hacker in this game and completely diff from our statik we know in the forums?

First, I think your numbers are kinda off; so I'm attaching my own timeline (I know somebody else made another, but I'm not gonna go look for it).

Second, I stand by my choice - Caesar is #7, not #1. Again, Little Caesars' Pizza, and the image of fire/burning - wood burning ovens. I mean, if they attached a clue like a picture of a Roman bust, it'd be too obvious.

Thanks, Yanka. I figured there had to be some other weirdo filenames out there after they clued us in on the .graffle one. That was a huge hint to brute force all known file extensions. I'm glad we found all those extra clues. But in the same hand, they are a bit overwhelming. Shocked

Did somebody forget to log in? And no, THANK YOU.

#11.
I'm attaching a jpg that I cropped out of the image; looks like letters "T I" to me. Maybe the guy's name begins with a "T"? Or that's his whole name - T?

OK, I neglected to include the "Perfect attendance" file. But this was uploaded a full 4 hours before the Roll Call file.

I was going on the basis that the Perfect attendance was simply to congratulate Statik for finding the site in the first place. Additionally, since Caesar was the one who posted the aqua-police photo, why wouldn't he be the first one to submit a file to the carelessly directory?

That's what I figured: the first file is just a congrats to Static (95% sure).
Why does he have to be the first one? I don't really see a convincing reason. But him being #7 explains "pizza".

I think your guess is as good as mine; but I have a right to stick to my opinion, yeah? Wink

Is it very crazy to think that #4 (.gif) is Neo? There are so many jokes floating around on the net about how much he says "Woah".

i agree i think caesar is the roll call pic, definitely not referring to little caesar's pizza, which would be a helluva advertising scheme..

umm... ive been trying to figure out clue 2?..#3 on the new post.. the Egg... anyways the quotes are from a 1990 movie Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, not from hamlet...

rosencrantz says the first part, guildenstern the second... so is he Dead? or is he Hamlet (cuz thats who they're speaking about...?

I think it's crazy to think Neo will be involved this early into the game (Side note: I personally believe/hope this game will stretch well beyond the release of M3, perhaps to the DVD release).

I guess I can see Pizza=Ceasar, due to Little Ceasars. That would corroborate with the IRC transcript someone posted back awhile ago that had a user named "caesar" posting a link to the file. I still don't see why he'd be posting that late. Who would be posting the Roll Call, then?

Well, on second though, that flamethrower is not so complex.

It is easy.

If you brighten the image of the background you will see one of the Great pyramids of the Egipt. It is easy to know, because the upper part of it has that characteristic smoother color of them.

The weird poind right below the flame, is in fact the moon.

So, you can conclude that picture was taken egipt, near Cairo. Which is a destination of Philip Gairden.

if one message says 'texel is here' ... why cant 'pizza is here!' refer to his name as well??? why does pizza have to be a clue and not his name? albeit its the corniest hacker name ive seen, ... maybe Phillip is a Pizza lover!!!!
