I saw someone ask in chat if the originals were bigger than the max size on flickr, then I lost my connection and couldn't get back here until today. Here's the originals...

I don't know if this matters...likely it doesn't, but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, and it just jumped out at me.

Please correct me if I am wrong or trouting, but it looks like the O'Kelly's had a couple of Boarders staying at their house.

Susan S Ricke (23, Dressmaker) and
Marian Ricke (19, Stenographer)
Both are from Indiana.

Well, it's neither wrong nor trout, I think, but I don't think it is important.

META:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Attached is the real Census page - as you can see, the boarders are there too. BTW, I think they did an excellent forgery job.

I'm telling ya, we're missing something.
We have two sheets of muster, each containing a "White"
Sheet 1 has Charles (H?N?W?) White
Sheet 2 has Joah??? Joal?? White, Andrew J. White, and Dan??? Damian?? White (stupid cursive).

Why do we have these sheets? What other purpose would they serve? To get the lineage of Colton, perhaps?

Edit: Found the original for page 2: Here

I see Jobial White, Andrew J White, and Daniel or Dannie White. Maybe Davis Kind of stumped on that last one. Even with looking at the original. The first name appears spelled different on the left than it does the right.

After some searching: http://www.sos.state.ga.us/archives/what_do_we_have/online_records/confederate_muster_rolls/images/cmr11503.jpg

I'm going with Joubert White.

Also, here: http://www.sos.state.ga.us/archives/what_do_we_have/online_records/confederate_muster_rolls/images/cmr11508.jpg

I'm going with Durias White for the mystery D White. There is also a very clear David White listed

This: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/white/military/civilwar/rosters/mt294ucompanyc.txt will verify Derias or Darius White and Joaburt or Joabert were in that unit.

Darias was killed in Decatur,GA
Joaburt died in a Rock Island, Ill., prison and is buried in grave No. 1238

Probably nothing but since this game likes graveyards?

Is it totally just my mind making this up, or not?

I thought Don specifically stated that he wasn't interested in the diamonds as much as the gun itself. That the gun was the reason he was interested completely, and the diamonds were a nice afterthought...

Therefore playing for the diamonds is not a big deal.

ALSO, IMHO, to break the curse, when brought to a poker table, the gun needs to not kill someone... Therefore, if anyone dies at the table, the curse continues... I dunno about that one, but it seems to make sense in my little pea-sized mind.

(And in terms of how lucky got rich, I think that's alluding only to the Nazi gold. He got that Nazi gold, which set him up for life thereafter, not the diamonds in the gun.)

Not so Thunderclap got the nazi gold. How did lucky get it back?

It seems to me its the gun's presence at the table which causes death. Hickok's death, for example, has no obvious direct connection to the gun, its presence (if you believe the curse) was enough to trigger events. I would say it is inevitable that someone will die at the table, in both eras.

As Lucky put it, this is Western - "a tale of American violence". It would just be straight disappointing if Don didn't get blown away. Very Happy
