ok I missed yesterday, but why does everyone think the game is over?

Did we find everything?

Trying to read through the updates Smile

Don't we at least have to bring the site back to the present?

And what about those haunted tables?

The haunted tables are archives, of a sort. Although the set seems incomplete. So maybe a couple more coming? Plus of course the finale connected to the live event tomorrow. But with Don dead, Matt home, killers killed, is there more to accomplish on the story?

More to accomplish? I can think of a few things. (what is the status of Corazon's operation?) what about Kerry - now that he isn't cursed and his mother isn't cursed, what changes there? Celebrity poker? Last word on the gold (or did I miss that? ) Lucy and her family unite?

Say good bye and RIP Lucky and Victor? One last poker game? A last reward for the leaders?

A final word from Kerry?

And I say, dehaunt the place of the ghosts

And move the site back to the present, when the credits will roll?

Well... this was the story of Lucy. I think the other characters may be left with loose ends. Maybe a thank you from Lucky, although his card already says that.

I do agree there should be one last tournament, but note the site never changed the date from Nov. 16, so I guess not.

And the cards all reflect their proper eras while the home page is in the era of the product - GUN - so maybe there's a good reason not to move the main site back to present day.

I guess we'll see tomorrow. Smile

Further support for moving back to the present:

This place (the LCP website and its tables) has been referred to as a Purgatory by at least one character. It seems to me Lucky has been able to call up various souls affected by the Gun, because they were all tied together by the curse of it.

We may never find out the true endings of many of the characters, but I'd feel a bit better knowing that Victor and Tony and Alex and Ben and Maurice and everyone else are released from the tables to finally rest.

That's what the wakes are for, after all. Lucky's called up old cards, gotten new pockets from 2005, and now the tournament of the Gun is over. L.A. finishes the job.

I totally agree that our "job" is to help release those who have passed in 2005 to their final destination (rather than stuck playing poker - as much as I'll miss them) and return the poker tables to the present (but that was my spec a few weeks ago when I suggested Hollywood Forever cemetery for LA's site). We need that epilogue. Isn't that also part of a great western?

I'm still intrigued why LA for the final Graveyard Games:
It has internet & video play access (wouldn't that be just awesome if the folks at home got to see stuff live, or we got to see a video that the folks at home were seeing?)
It's in LA where most film industry folks live (better for live interaction)
It's got famous folks (and, very coincidentally, great-grandpa, great-great grandparents)
Why have it scheduled following the final showdown if there wasn't an epilogue

/me & konashark will see you tomorrow. I'm tickled about this one.

We do need an epilogue, not for the living (though Kerry's future is sort of left up in the air, but I don't think Corazon's surgery is going to be part of the story unless Kerry found a diamond or two that Lucky missed), but for the dead. I can't imagine any of the people who played this game want to think of Lucky, Victor, Ben, etc. being stuck for all eternity in a poker-room version of purgatory. Whatever happens in LA tomorrow has(said in a pleading voice) to give a conclusion to that part of the story at the very least.

This was my first ARG, in a weird way I'm sort of sad to see it come to a conclusion. I'm going to miss spending a couple of hours twice a week looking for updates Smile

I know what you mean. Sometimes you don't even realize until it's over how intensely you were involved, how often you were thinking about it, and so on -- until the next day that would have been Update Day rolls around and you have nothing to do. Sad

But stick around, because new ARGs start up frequently! Very Happy

(Also, btw, love the avatar.)

This is what I am not looking forward to. I'm going to miss that Christmas morning type feeling of anticipation that I had on update day, wondering what the heck was going to happen in this engrossing story.

I'll also miss having tasks to go out and do at the cemetaries! That was really fun. I love the fact that the PMs provided us with opportunities to participate in live events in our own backyards.

(1) I was also hoping to hear more from Corazon, but I'm sure that none of these events have had the slightest impact on her operation status.

(2) Kerry, as you pointed out earlier, has a fairly extensive list of murder charges hanging over his head, so I presume he's not exactly sticking around. Maybe he'll head up to Bakersfield, look up his little sister Bernadette -- also freed from the curse now, so perhaps she'll start doing better in school.

(3) William opted for rehab in the Betty Ford Clinic. Maybe Celebrity Poker Survivor will film after he's out, but I'm betting he's missed it... and he's okay with that.

(4) I'm assuming you mean the diamonds in the Gun, rather than the Nazi gold from a few weeks back. Lucky's final update reveals that he found the diamonds after he got the Gun from Maurice Pikar; that's how Lucky really got his fortune.

(5) I'm fairly certain that Lucy driving off into the sunset (and thinking about change) is pretty much the last we're going to see of her. That was clearly the finale.

Lucky did play in one last poker game Wednesday afternoon. Transcript here. Most relevant excerpts:

thedealer wrote:
thedealer: I've wanted many things in this life.
thedealer: Love, whiskey, women, dry bed, warm food.
thedealer: But more than anything else in my life, for better or worse
thedealer: The thing I've wanted most were a few good cards.
AmberJoy: Lucky, what advice would you give the living?
thedealer: Time is precious, Amber. Live a lot. Cheat a little, but only when necessary.
thedealer: Breathe while you can, before it's time to sleep.
GoodbyeSkyHarbor: there's plenty of time to sleep when you're dead
thedealer: I've been thinking the same thing, Goodbye
thedealer: Coming on to time to sleep.
thedealer: For either a life done, or a life undone that can never be made up.
thedealer: I'm not pushed back from the table yet, friends.
thedealer: Soon.
<final poker hand, which WanderingAngela wins, unlocking the very last cards>
thedealer: Well.
thedealer: Played.
thedealer: Good night.

Sounds like goodbye to me. Crying or Very sad

And there was a final Winners Tournament, in which the leaders got to play with Lucy instead of Lucky. Transcript here.

Yeah, where are the credits? (Other than on IMDB. We want the ARG credits.) Even if all of the above speculations are correct, you must be right about that at the very least.

My first ARG here as well and I was involved in it from the get go -minus a day or two thanks to Boing Boing. I also found this site from the LCP forums.

I'm glad I joined and yes! I finally got a card on the last Saturday update. Smile

I also found out by beating each level of Gun that there are actually 4 codes for Secret of the Safe in each game. Smile

I think playing LCP definitely gave me a leg-up on people just buying Gun from Gamestop because it looked like a cool game. That ammo dump in the badlands helped alot. Smile

I'm looking for the next ARG and like many others hope I'm not disappointed by the awesomeness of this one.

Shad0 - back in this thread when I said Gold I meant the Civil War Gold - or did Sullivan spend it all?

In lucky's last game you quoted - he clearly says it is almost time to leave but not yet. When he uses the word "Goodbye" - he is referring to a comment made by Goodbye Skye Harbor.

We know that at least we will have to do another favor for lucky - didn't they say bring a radio? So I am assuming we have to do something at the cemetery to bring the site back to 2005 and allow Lucky to rest in peace.

I for one, am willing to bet that Lucky still has a trick or two up his sleeve and I don't think they will all take place in LA. This game has always surprised me.

Anyone care to make a wager?

Ah. Gotcha. I think the implication is the Sullivan spent it all -- that's how "It's rather well for myself that I have done," and "I never even needed to use [the diamonds hidden in] the Gun."

rose wrote:

I agree, but then: Lucky plays one last hand of poker, in which he goes all-in; WanderingAngela wins; we get the "new card" popup; Lucky says "Good night" and goes offline; and Lucy shows up at the Winners Tournament instead of him. I think the story Lucky's been telling us is now over.

rose wrote:

I agree with this, too. Lucky has asked to do a special favor in L.A., and to bring a radio, so I agree that we'll be hearing from him one last time. Plus Lucky is still approving small favors -- I got a few last night -- so he's definitely still around. I just think that Lucky's stories of Lucy and the past are now over. (Wait... didn't I just say that? Embarassed )

Heck no. I fold. Mr. Green
