The problem being, of course, that once the card was ingested, continued observation would present something of a difficulty Smile .

Edit: This would be the wrong forum... Embarassed

My two tries today were:

Tan Hill, South Yorkshire (taking a hint from the map)

and

ASTER's First Thermal Infrared Image

No joy no sense

Hello everyone, long time lurker here. (By the way, thanks. The number of times I've had the right answer but couldn't get it accepted! The Unifiction team have saved my computer from many a solid thrashing.)

Anyhoo

I was thinking of Mercury instead of Mars, given that it is closest to the sun and he was the Roman Hermes: both to do with Elucidate. I googled Mercury and found a few pictures of the surface that looked like the card, but my random guesses from what I read are wrong (I should have written them down, but I didn't).

To let you see what I mean, look at http://starryskies.com/solar_system/Mercury/mariner.html

That's the Caloris Basin I believe.

Can someone who actually has any idea about this stuff check this out? Easier than ripping up cards!

another idea, i stumbled across a topic on wikipedia for Microdots here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microdot

Basically, the germans used microdots as periods (full stops) in letters they sent during world war 2, and under a microscope the receiver could make out a message/picture by combining the info in each microdot.

Has anyone looked at this card under very high magnification for any clues, might be some microdot info in there. Grasping at straws here, but its worth checking.

Also, has nayone passed a magnet over the card to see if that has an effect. That wouldn't really fit in with the meaning of elucidate but again worth a try

I have looked at both Elucidate and Riemann with a standard magnifying glass right after the press release a couple of months ago that mentioned micro text. This same magnifying glass could (just barely) pick up the microscopic writing that composed the signature line in my checkbook, so I figured it would be good enough for the PXC cards. I didn't find anything, but don't let that stop you from trying, too-- have been known to make the occasional mistake or oversight.

Von's hint:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
it might not be clear, but it represents itself sensibly

I just tried with a 25lb magnet (that's the amount it can pick up, not its weight) with no effect.

asking around about the topographical map idea, i found that a shadow cast on mars looked like a face, this prompted NASA to get up there with a probe.
Maybe as Elucidate means 'to cast light on, to illuminate' then the pic on the card is of the mountain range which caused the face shadow, so the answer could be the name of this range Question

i have yet to find this name though Bang Head

face on mars

All incorrect, sorry...

I don't have this card but like a lot of others I am struggling to to help solve it.

No answer here but since the hint listed above is spoilerized:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The hint may indicate that it is related to the visual representation of one of the five senses. While there are probably a lot of sources for information I am currently wading through this site.

I've been pursuing a similar idea...

...currently fiddling about with iris scans/other identity recognition stuff.

Uneasyjd, I was following that exact same route back on the top o' page 5 of this thread but never made much headway. I still believe that is a highly probable direction to the solution but I just don't know how to converge the idea with the a possible solution. Confused

UPDATED....

Just found this site Check out figure 2 - getting closer perhaps?
