[Not Quite Off Topic] Get Well Gamers

It's that time of year again. Smile

A video game ARG is winding down and it's almost gift giving season.

If you are completely done with your copy of Gun, or if you're getting a 360, or if you have a DS now so you never use your GBA any more; please consider donating your old games and/or consoles to Get Well Gamers.

What's great about Get Well Gamers is that they deal mostly with "In-Kind" donations. That means donations of goods and services rather then of money. (Though they do take donations of money.) Even in-kind donations are tax deductible.

The last time I talked to Ryan (one of the founders) he said one of the things they were really hurting for were PSone games. When the PS2 came out lots of people donated their PSX consoles but kept most of their games because the PS2 is backwards compatible. I imagine they're having much the same issue with GBA games since they work with the DS.

If you have something you don't play anymore, please consider sending it on. Because it sucks to be sick and away from home in general, much less when your a kid. Smile

Thanks for reading.

do you know if the fact that Gun is rated M would be a problem?

It's true that Gun is rated M. But GWG also helps Child Care wards as well as dedicated Children's Hospitals, and it also sucks to be sick and away from home when you are an adult. Some hospitals have a system by which somebody who is staying in the hospital can check out a console and a more mature game if they are of a certain age or older.

The only game that they don't take is one of the Silent Hill (3 maybe?) where there are these really creepy monsters dressed like nurses...

Okay, that and BMX XXX. More for the fact that the game play would be more painful then most medical procedures then for the adult content. Wink

I can see why too - I played that movie over 2 years ago and it scared the CRAP out of me - the whole running through an old mental hospital killing zombie nurses whose bodies are just two pairs of legs stuck together end on end... EEEEEEEK they were scary.
