My interpetaton of the file cabinet picture..

It was a test

Grabbing Internet Files, a primer

A clue that changing the extention will reveale more of the file cabinet. The cabinet beeing a metaphor for a file system or a FTP server.

Fits nicely with the carelessly files.. it revealed alot more when the extentions was changed.

The picture with the stars..

14 stars are marked with a red dot.

There is 14 carelessly files in the ftp.aquapolice.com server. The general consencus is that they are "hacker" tags, saying they were there.

So the picture is a tribute to the 14 hackers that made it there.

there appears to be stars/dots interlaced in the file cabnet image as well, although they could just be random parts of the image.

edit: the line / clumps are parts of the cabinet i couldnt be bothered filtering out :p

Humm... I know some of you have already get this, but the message is "follow the primes"

The name os the images are, in binary, 1, 4, 9, 25... Their squares are prime numbers, 1, 2, 3, 5... (ok, I know that one is not prime, I know...)So, if we follow the sequence, I bet whatever a have that the next file name will be 00110001.jpg, or 49.

I think we should start looking for something related with this number...

PoisonEye

I think Pollux is the first one here to realize that the "Grabbing Internet Files, a primer" could have a dual meaning. First, it leads you to the GIF file...second, it's saying prime numbers are used to grab internet files. Although that doesn't necessarily mean on paintover. Maybe the GIF leads you to a place where you use prime numbers to find files, similarly to carelessly.

This text was hidden in the 00001001.gif file using steganography:

Let's view it from the top
Blindly, still, but climb those stairs carefully
dub dub dub, hack and slash
You'll find the way!

Dots and more dots

Just in case someone sees the relevance here (I don't) I thought I'd post this.

Here is a pic of the dots enhanced on the file image.

http://webpages.acs.ttu.edu/vceronca/dots.htm

It looks to me just like it is web dithering, but it is interesting that what looks like a greyscale image is really made up of a 32 color palette, including some interesting bright neon pink colors.

The second image on http://webpages.acs.ttu.edu/vceronca/dots.htm (if you scroll down a little) is the red dots on the congrats image isolated. They still don't seem to mean much, but they look more deliberately placed, to me.

I was unable to overlay them and find any kind of matching pattern.
