[EMAIL] CARTS newsletter - Big Orbicon News!

There's an issue of the CARTS newsletter out. If you haven't signed up for it, you can do so here.

CARTS wrote:
Welcome!

First of all, we would like to welcome all of the new CARTS members and those who have signed up for the joinCARTS mailing list! Our numbers are steadily growing and we are quite excited about it!

Since many of you are new to the CARTS organization, we'd like to take this opportunity to encourage all of you to spread the word about Orbicon's misdoings. Don't think that you can't make a difference!

Ways to spread the word*:

Print out the CARTS flyers on the website and hang them in your local area.
Attend a CARTS sponsored Orbicon protest. Scheduled protests will be listed on the Events page of our website.
Organize your own Orbicon protest in your local area.
Put a link to the CARTS website on your blog or personal website.
And don't forget! Send us pictures of you and/or your friends hanging posters or holding protest signs and we'll include them in the gallery on the CARTS site.

* just remember, as always, CARTS encourages all CARTS members to act responsibly and within the boundaries of the law at all times. CARTS cannot be held responsible for the unlawful actions of individual CARTS members. Educate yourself about your area's laws concerning protest demonstrations and the hanging of flyers before you participate.

The Orbicon website hacking

We would like to take this opportunity to let our members know that CARTS was not behind the recent orbiconcorp.com hacking. The CARTS organization does not condone illegal actions of any kind. We do not know who the Federation of Socially Responsible Hacking is nor do we condone their hacking of the Orbicon site.
BREAKING NEWS: Orbicon threaten legal action against Google

Orbicon is just one of many companies and Government organizations that are beginning to grow uneasy about the way Google, Microsoft and others Internet giants have included images of unprecedented detail in their global mapping software. Many believe that the resolution of these images is so great that they may contain enough information to be considered commercially sensitive or pose a security risk as an aid to terrorism. In recognition of this, Google Earth already blocks certain views, such as aerial shots of the White House and office buildings nearby, but Orbicon is the first company to threaten legal action if images of its property are not removed. Dr. Bronco, CEO of Orbicon, is on record as saying in a recent interview;

"What business is it of anybody to know what's going on in our fa! cilities? Please understand from our perspective this has nothing to d o with terrorism or national security; the issue here is commercial sensitivity. I can think of a dozen organizations or Government departments who would just love to get a look inside of one of Orbicon's facilities; I'm afraid Mr. President that's never going to happen."

No one at Google was available to comment today but a spokesman for Orbicon said,

"We regret that it has come to the stage where legal action appears to be the only answer. If this is unsuccessful Orbicon may be forced to permanently relocate all of its research work to a more secure location. In the meantime we will be reviewing our strategy on a country by country basis."

Oh, Orbicon, you crazy folks. That doesn't sound menacing at all!

So, should we be looking through Google Maps for their "fa! cilities"?

That's actually what I was thinking too. They keep referencing the fact that they DON'T want us to check Google Earth, meaning we probably DO have to. The only problem I see is that we have absolutely no idea where they are. Any ideas here?
I'm going to try and send some emails around Orbicon to see if any of them tell me (although I doubt it)...

I checked Google Earth for that - while it could find the area, it couldn't zoom in close enough for it to be of any use. So either we're looking for another location, or this is just another example of Orbicon paranoia.

Maybe we'd get better results if we asked someone at CARTS where we should be looking?
