I used the CD-WOW link supplied earlier in the thread to buy a couple of packs of cards, and it said the postage was free up until the last bit before checkout when it said the postage was 1.95.
So I sent an e-mail to firebox asking to have my postage refunded. Here's their reply:

Hi Anthony,
Thanks for your email.
We don't actually sell Perplex City on CDwow, so we're not entirely sure how this happened. If you order Perplex City through Firebox you will need to pay p&p.
Kind Regards

It was worth a try!!!!!

Well Cube Fans...
If you order from Firebox some cards... and something slightly bigger (in my case a puzzle wine caddy) it turns up at 6:30am...
But I have wave 2 cards
I got an extra whipsmart in there, am checking it to see if its special but it doesn't seem to be right now.
The packs... 3 wave 2 and 1 wave 1.
Interestingly I've had one of the wave 2 pics before and 1 wave 2 pack had the same pic as the wave 1 pack.
Not going to be easy to make sure you buy a wave 2 pack in person...

I got another<sigh> whipsmart (that must make it at least 5 or 6 I have) in a firebox order that didn't contain any cards. I guess its just a promotional thing.
Chalco
Bang goes my plan to wait until I had 4 wave 1 packs unopened and then return them to firebox. Is there no way to tell wave 1 from wave 2?
Hopefully my order will arrive today...

The packs didn't say anything about wave 1 or 2
might scan them in a while, but don't have access to the scanner until end of the day.

Ok, mine arrived - 12 packs, 7 Wave 2, 5 Wave 1 - so not quite a 3:1 ratio there. The packaging appears to be identical between the two, so essentially, Firebox must just have two big boxes and whoever is shipping these are grabbing a bunch from each for our orders before packing them up.
No idea on how retails outlets will fare, whether they will order a wave 2 box and get *just* wave 2 cards, but I blooming well hope so. Plenty of us managed to crack the first wave and fought hard to get all 66...so now, to find that more than 25% of what I'm spending on cards is entirely redundant is a little...disheartening.
That said, it might see an increase in the trading market - get yer arses over to PerplexcityTrades.com!

Have we noticed an initial rise in the ratio of silver cards-however I imagine it is slightly too early to tell and we'll need a larger sample.

I bought 4 packs and you'll never guess what I got... 4 Wave 1 packs!
So, maybe their stock is at a 3:1 ratio, but it's definitely not randomly distributed. Or possibly my order was picked by someone with only one arm.
I eat my fungums and then sent them an e-mail pointing out that I was mildly dissapointed, and that the probability of such a freak occurrance was 1/256.
I was going to get quite a few packs when the offer came on, but if they're just going to use the offer to get rid of Wave 1 packs, then I really might not bother altogether. Like Juxta said, we've spent a lot of effort finishing off our Wave 1 collections, and now we're being forced to buy more Wave 1 cards in order to get what we want - and we can't even tell the difference between the packets on the outside so we can sell them on!

Hmm I ordered 8 packs last night, really hoping that I get a good selection of wave 2 now, otherwise it looks like e-bay may be making more money!
btw Juxta congratz on getting no.1 slot on leaderboard!

Does anyone remember that when 'Take That' split up they set up help lines for suicidal teenagers.

Firebox page has changed:

Maths fans: There is a far higher chance of getting Wave 2 packs in your order as [bold]we have been told[/bold] they outnumber Wave 1 packs by 3:1 per box.

Well, er, thanks - but I see I've already been overtaken, as expected. To be honest, the leaderboard is just supposed to be a bit of fun, but as I think everyone is probably sick of hearing from me, I objected to the manner and the spirit in which the top two spots were being held.
Anyway, that is all a moot point now, and the subject is closed. Although, hitting 2000 points did give me a warm glow that even Lemsip can't manage.
