The Chat

After posting the previous message I got the following e-mail from Vincent:

Quote:
Eric,

Due to an unforseen issue with an acquantance of mine I have been forced to change my screen name slightly - VncKalakov

I am aware this will have caused you some complication, if you are willing to lend my a few extra minutes of your time (should you receive this e-mail) I would be prepared to oblige.

Vincent.

Then the following chat occured:

Quote:
TheSaintCor171: Good afternoon Vincent.
VncKalakov: Good afternoon Eric.
TheSaintCor171: I just got done sending you an e-mail. I guess you can ignore it for what it's worth.
VncKalakov: Very well, I will revise. Shall we talk business?
TheSaintCor171: You start... what are your demands?
VncKalakov: My demands? I want certain people off my back, aswell as the sucessful decryption of these infamous codes you have heard so much about.
TheSaintCor171: And in return, we get what?
VncKalakov: I will let your alcoholic waster of a man free to do as he pleases.
TheSaintCor171: How can we be sure that you will do that?
VncKalakov: Well, I have learnt a lot from Mr. Mason since I have spent so much time with him, pityful. I will be more than willing to let him continue to abuse himself.
VncKalakov: You have something else in mind?
TheSaintCor171: Ofcourse..
TheSaintCor171: As a sign of good faith, we will give you the name of the person who is giving us information from within your organization... this will ensure that we can learn nothing more about your organization. In return, you hand over the codes and Andy. I can not see us giving you the codes without knowing that Andy is free.
VncKalakov: Not so hasty my friend. You know how much I enjoy playing games, Well I have a game for you.
TheSaintCor171: Bring it on.
VncKalakov: Over the space of ten days I wil provide five puzzles, that amounts to one puzzle per 2 days. It is up to you to provide me with the answers to each puzzle as I upload them. If you fail, I will demonstrate the consequence live on my site.
TheSaintCor171: No problem. How long do I have to give you the answers to each puzzle?
TheSaintCor171: 48 hours?
VncKalakov: That would be correct.
TheSaintCor171: Good to know... and where will they be located? On your site?
VncKalakov: Yes.
TheSaintCor171: Will I need to search for them? Or will they be as in plain site as the one of Andy?
VncKalakov: I will make that easy. I will use my site. The 'test' begins on the 1st Dec.
TheSaintCor171: No problem... look forward to it. And what happens after I pass your little test?
VncKalakov: I will release the codes.
TheSaintCor171: And Andy?
VncKalakov: Ah, the question I was waiting for. Once you can give me a glimpse of the information I seek, I will set him free.
TheSaintCor171: A glimpse? Part of the code?
VncKalakov: Yes.
TheSaintCor171: Any particular part?
VncKalakov: The first line will suffice.
TheSaintCor171: Sounds like a deal.
VncKalakov: Very well.
TheSaintCor171: TTYL!
VncKalakov: Indeed.
VncKalakov signed off at 3:21:03 PM

So the first line is the most important to him. I guess the rest of the code really doesn't matter as far as trying to crack it once we get through his little "test". It's just a shame that we have to wait that long to have something interesting to do.

Then I can rest (and sleep) easy knowing that I won't miss anything if I take a three and a half day break from Internet life. (Which is doubtful to happen anyway.)

The live thing definitely sounds interesting, too bad we're too good at puzzles to see it though.

A puzzle trail eh? This is going to be interesting.

I have had no word from michael yet, so I will send him another email later. Maybe he can give me some insight on wqhat is about to come.

He was going to break into the office after all.

Hope that we will get some answers.

Greetz,

D.

got an email from michael:

Quote:

Draghkar,

I thought I'd just email you let you know things seem ok. I hear
you're gonna take a test of Vince's? thats fine but be careful.

I got some files from Vince's office, dont worry I photocopied so I
didnt leave any evidence. Mayb now the cop will take me seriously
eh?

Haha, Vince is goin down!!

So i replied:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Michael..

Thats great.. are you able to send me a mail with the copies you made? That would help us to bring vince down. Remember, two or more indictments will have more power than just one.

Can you also mail me the name of that cop you spoke with? We can present the case to him that way instead of going to someone else.

Can you tell me if you found out more about the agency?

Be careful and watch your back

Draghkar

Greetz,

Draghkar

I am going to make the assumption here that the things that we are going to be shown are going to be self-sustaining. Basically that means that each of the puzzles will hold the key to solving them. Whether or not they will be simple? We'll find out tomorrow. However, something tells me that these will be things that we haven't seen before and will thus not know what to do with them at first.

We have 48 hours to crack each one. So, as soon as someone sees it, load it here ASAP.

I think #karma is still open, so we'll meet there starting tomorrow to talk about the puzzles as they are shown to us. 2 heads are better then one, I say.

I have tomorrow off so I'll be able to help work on the first one right from the get go.

I pray for an exploding head puzzle. My brain hasn't had a work out in quite some time now.

got another mail from michael:

Quote:

Draghkar,

I have managed to send you copies in Word format. For Christ Sakes
be careful what you do with it!!

If Vince finds out about them he'll find out I've been grassing him
up and he'll do to me what he's gonna try to do to Mason!

Well there you have it, dunno whether it'll help you all that much
though.

The letters appear to be Greek. Combining them does nothing. However, viewing the letters as a "Substitution', one could look at it as "Google".

I'm thinking that it has something to do with Holidays (maybe a Greek Holiday?) because the dove with the rose would be Valentine's Day and the clovers would be St. Patricks Day. Is there a Greek Holiday (or any) between those two? The reason being is because the letters are located between the two pictures.

The only Greek holiday that I can see that falls inbetween those two holidays is:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Ash Monday

Not sure if it's right, but that's what I'm getting with what I'm thinking.

Hi everybody.

I wonder, why is there a planetree maple leaf under the clover? Is that also a clue to Sant Patrick's day? Maybe a red herring, but who knows?

Greets,

(Sant) Patrick

If we take the text between both parts of the pictures literally (given it means Google), this leads us to the following two sources for the parts of the image:

Dove and Rose:
http://www.jesuits.ca/justicecr/Peace2003/Peace2003/
This is not accessible, but the originating URL points us to the Jesuits of Canada, specifically to the Jesuit Centre for Social Faith and Justice.

Clovers:
http://carol.gimp.org/writing/index1.html
This is a page containing several fictional stories.

However, a connection between these I haven't found, yet.

Greetings.

I just hopped on board to help with this one, and read over all the details. Might I ask where you all came up with all these other email addy's? It seems like this went from one thing, to email in a jiffy, and I missed how those things got solved out.

I'd like to get fully up to speed so I can help with new material, and to make sure I don't dig in old dirt.

hiya predator,

which addies are you referring to?

So far we have about 4 or 5 addies

Andy has 2
michael has 1
Vincent has 1

We dont have the addies for:
Matthew
The dude from gunsport inc

But i am not sure if the latter is IG

All of them are in the thread and on how they were found as well.

Please tell me which ones you have questions about.

Greetz,

Draghkar.

Well, since the first puzzle hasn't even been solved, I don't think this game will last much longer. I have no clue what the answer may be and I just received an e-mail from Vincent telling me that the answer that I thought it was was wrong.

Any thoughts? Or are we so completely stumped by this one that Andy is going to die?
