[XBox] Burnout Revenge

So it's coming out tomorrow. Should be in stores wednesday. Who's getting it? I'll have it ASAP (it's already paid for in full).

::comes out of the lurking shadows::

I might decide to pick it up. I'm a big Burnout 3 fanatic, and the reviews on Revenge are favorable enough that I'm seriously considering getting Revenge. I was going to grab Legends for the PSP, but the PSP and I have been going through a bit of a rough period lately, so Revenge is looking more attractive at the moment.

The Live support is supposed to be excellent by the way - it has a party system just like Halo 2s, and some sort of matchmaking system as well, although I believe it's fairly scaled down. Much better then BO3's horrifying attempt at Live.

I'm in! Will pick it up Weds. as well.

I loved Burnout 3, though the Live component was indeed sorely lacking. Here's hoping Revenge's works out as well as it sounds.

I'll judge by your reviews.
You guys and i share much the same taste in critiquing games, and with funds running short to just get it straight out... I'll give it a few weeks and see what you all think of it first.

I will be getting it but for the Xbox 360 when I get enough money to get the 360, then Burnout. So it will take some time but eventually when you all stop playing it and having any sort of interest in the game I will probable just be picking it up. Sad

Count me in too. Though I'm not sure if you can use the crashbreakers in multiplayer.

I'm debating. I really Enjoy Burnout 3, but also felt that I'd had my fill after a while. I'm heading to Europe soon, and I've got a lot of other games on my plate right now, so it might get nudged out.

You could always pick up this months OXM, it has a demo of Burnout Revenge on the disc. Then you can see if you really want to buy it or not. (It also has a demo of Indigo Prophecy, so it's well worth the $15+tax (CAD))

Yeah, I already did pick that up. Which is why I'm considering the game at all--I quite enjoy the prospect of crash breakers in the races. I tried one round of Indigo Prophecy but failed to make it very far--I'll give it another go though. I like the idea a lot, but am worried it might frustrate me.

Just to give you a heads up, you don't get crashbreakers in the races until about half way through the game, I believe.

But the game itself is addicting and a lot of fun. I am going to have to go buy Burnout 3 at some point in time, as I've only borrowed it up till now, and I'm still not sure which I like better. If I end up deciding I like takedown better, it's only by a close margin, and probably due to the fact that revenge seems to be a bit darker - harder to see oncoming obstacles and not as much light.

Revenge is definitely harder... the bad guys have a lot of boost now, and they use it. There are often times when I just can't catch them anymore. It's quite annoying. It's also more frustrating with respect to getting boost... it seems like it comes a lot slower than it did in Takedown, but then again, I'm fairly far in takedown, and at the higher levels you were getting boost all the time it seemed. So it might just be me.

Also, the ranking system is... frustrating. I think I liked the game system better in Takedown, but again, it might just be that I'm not used to what I have.

Either way I highly recommend Revenge, if you're looking for a fast-paced fun game.

The demo does not do it justice. I haven't appreciated my XBL membership this much in months.

Just letting everyone know that gamespot put up a Q and A article about Burnout Revenge for the 360 here. It will be out March 2006 and the only thing that I really don't like is that you can't play with people who have BR for Xbox.
