In tonight's chat with Caretaker he mentioned Marcus has gone nearly catatonic unless there is a chess board in front of him.
Kicking that around in Acheron chat we discussed the following.

If Marcus is Autistic, then any changes to his routine or situations he doesn't have a "routine" for - will be very, very upsetting. I have an autistic Cousin, not as bad as "Rain Man" but the movie was fairly accurate on reactions.

Its all about Triggers folks. Autistics have triggers, find the right one and you set off a routine. Marcus's triggers are chess and chess terms. Chess terms, even if you do not play, will keep him talking. It could be that the different personalities have different triggers; Reggie had triggers of the Snack Cart and Pudding in addition to Chess, Turk and Ajeeb have the one game they reproduce as a trigger. I think we can find some other ones if we do some research.

I googled a bit on "Chess the Musical." Chess is the background, but it is really all about the cold war politics, about position. One of the phrases used was something along the lines of 'pieces moving off the board.'

One trigger word to try with Marcus if he every shows back up is "Arbiter." The arbiter is the umpire of chess, "watching from the first square, watching over all 64."

I'll add more words as I come across them in my travels. If you find any add them here. We should be able to gather enough to write a chess book when we are done.
