#pmchat "so ya wanna be a PM" Sunday Dec 4 7pm EST It happens at the end of every game...
player1: oh noes! what am I gonna do with all this time now that KickassGameX is over?!
player2: hey! you know, we could probably put something together! we're smart, we have the skills... just a few more people and we could do something AMAZING!
player1: dude! I'm so in on that! we'll pwn the ARG world!
Yep, I've been there, done that. The result was Lockjaw. It was simultaneously the most exciting and most frustrating time of my life. Fortunately, things have come a long way since then and we have lots of people with both experience and ideas. We also have a chat channel... #pmchat on the irc.chat-solutions.org server that houses just about all our other chat channels. Feel free to stop on by whenever and chat with like-minded individuals. We'll also be starting up our scheduled chats shortly after Thanksgiving, so keep an eye out for those!
There's a whole community here that wants nothing more than for games to be as great as they can be. Despite our rather strong opinions, lots of us actually have a clue or two... so don't think you have to head out on this journey on your own! We're there to help

Ok, so it's shortly after Thanksgiving.
So, the plan is... a So Ya Wanna chat on Sunday Dec. 4 at 7PM EST/4PM PST. I realize that this will exclude some of the more "worldly" crowd. If there's a specific topic that you'd like to see addressed, feel free to post questions/thoughts here and I'll try to see that some or most of them get addressed in the chat. A log will, of course, be posted and discussion before and after is encouraged both in this forum and the irc channel.
See you Sunday!

I love these types of chats but have never been able to get to one because of work, this one included.
Would it be possible to get like a week or two notice before the chat? That way those of us who really want to come can make the arrangements to do so. Not that those who will be there don't really want to be there but, well, you get the idea, I hope.

Sure thing. But, just for future reference/consideration, is the time (aside from the lack of notice) a good one for you? I really want these to be at a convenient time for those that want to attend and I'm just not sure when that is.

Is it possible to start this chat one or two hours earlier? That would be great, since I fell asleep while typing in a question yesterday (Here it was 4 hours past midnight when my eyes decided to roll down my blinds )

Agreed. 7pm here is awfully late over on the other side of the Atlantic. We've always tried to be fair to both the UK and Oz with these chats in the past and, it seems, as if 5pm for me (so 11pm for London and 7am for Sydney... i think that's how it works out) is about the most fair. It kinda screws both Oz and the Europe though, being so early/late. I had a couple PMs come in from folks in the UK and haven't heard anything from those on the other side of the world (though I know that Colin was lurking in there). Perhaps, if he's the only one and he's fine with logs, we could move it earlier in the day so we could get greater participation from the european crowd. Does anyone have input here? Bill, would you be able to join in earlier... I know with the family 5pm is difficult for you?
also... just a reminder to any of you that have questions that didn't get asked in the chat or want to get more into detail on something brought up but not fully discussed... we have this forum & we might as well make the best of it. Ask away!

Any time of the day and any day of the week is good for me as long as I know with enough advance.
Also, is there a log from the chat anywhere? Or is it going to be posted here at a later date? Just because I wasn't there doesn't mean that I still don't need to learn from what's been asked and said.

Twas a good chat, I think. I hope that people found it useful and I'm sorry that I went off for so long in some stretches of it.
Topics included:
What do PMs actually do when the game is live... is it really that much work?
Can you fight ARG-jacking... how?
Sending tips to Unfiction, ARGN, Deaddrop, etc.
How many PMs should there be.
(and probably a few others that I'm forgetting)

For future refference don't worry about me. At the moment I don't have the time free for these things. I think if there's no interest from my side of the world make it more convient for yourselves.

What client are you using?
The server is irc.chat-solutions.org, and you'll need to enter that wherever your client asks for the server.
The channel is #unfiction (unless you're looking for a specific game channel).
Does that help?

or, you know the #pmchat channel (looks at topic of thread)
If that's not helping, you might be having firewall related issues. In which case, I can tell you that I connect via port 6667 but you're beyond my expertise. Have you attempted to connect via the java chat found here ?

Heh, whoops, I am SMRT today!
If you're having firewall issues, btw, and can't get either your client or the Java applet to work, this little program is so sneaky it can even tunnel through the gazillion corporate firewalls we have at my place of employment.
