[Interaction] [Email] Stevie 12/4/05

I shot an email to Stevie

Quote:

Hi Stevie,

My name is Puck. I heard about your dad. I hope you find him. I just read a book called A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. It's about a brave little girl who's father disappears and she has to find him. Maybe it will help you find your dad.

I like your dog Raider a lot. Here is a picture of my cats Yoshi and Mojo. Yoshi has a red collar and Mojo has a blue collar. My cats aren't as smart as your dog though. Maybe he can teach them to write email too....

We live in California but I think it would be cool to live on a space station like you. Ok I have to do homework now. I hope you write back to me soon.

Your friends,
Puck, Yoshi and Mojo

And her response

Quote:

Hi Puck, Yoshi and Mojo,

Raidar says that cats have to learn to type by themselves. They don't like sitting in class because they want everyone to think they already know everything.

Your cats are pretty, but don't you have to worry about them crossing your path? I wouldn't want a lot of bad luck for anyone. I wonder what they are looking at in the picture. Mojo is looking through the window, and Yoshi is looking at the ceiling.

I'll have to put "A Wrinkle in Time" on my present wish list. Mommy said that it sounds a lot like what the show Quantum Leap said, you take the string of time and mash it all together and you can go anywhere in time.

Here is a picture of Raidar in the garden. The red thing carried water around. He did that pose after Dr. Martha told him not to pee on anything. Silly Dr. Martha, robots don't have to pee.

Your friends,
Stevie and Raidar

That Raider has a good sense of humor.

After a previous discussion of Narnia it occured to me that Stevie's situation was kind of like A Wrinkle in Time so I wanted to see what her response would be.

Let me know if you have anything you want me to ask Stevie. I want to get the name of the puzzle book - if it actually exists.

Oh and feel free to trout me if you feel this post was unnecessary or in the wrong place.

the "red thing" carries water around? Looks like a post-box to me

I don't think it was unnecessary at all! I usually find myself glossing over all the player/character interaction threads, but I've really taking a liking to Stevie! She may be one of my favorite characters in a while!

Should we be trying to help her find her dad? Most of the correspondence with Stevie has mainly focused on people mentioning their pets, and other happy talk like that. Given her responsiveness to these cues (and her obvious "not-the-average-9-year-old" intelegence level), do you think we should be directing her to look for clues, or interact with people to get more info? She seems pretty willing to send us photos of her environment; maybe we could even get her to have Raidar send photos of other areas of the station which might yield more clues (especially if she knows it might help bring her daddy home Wink).

I think that we will be doing that in the very near future - right now, however, the going theory on Wasilei is presumably that he's on the New Dawn. If our guesses are correct, as you indicate, he's not - but it might be too soon to send a young 9-year-old into the fray. Right now it's probably a good idea to keep her spirits up and make friends - we want her to be able to trust us, of course, in a time of need.

Plus an even more useful source may be Raidar... if you'll look over in the other character interaction thread, teh_lisa recieved an email with Raidar asking, in code, to send lisa a picture of a piece of paper that Seth ask him to photgraph.

That email has no tcome in yet though

Even better, get a picture of Seth himself, preferably at work investigating.
